New Zealand Domestic Season

Yeah, pretty much.
We have NZ v PAK, AUS v ENG, and the Big Bash.

It seems to all conveniently fit so on most days there's one match.

finally sky are expanding their cricket coverage, now all they have to do is show the India-South Africa series or any international series outside England, NZ, Australia.

Well played by Auckland in the end, though CD did look like they could frighten them at the end :p They never really recovered from that first over

Auckland!!!
Considering I watched the match in Napier (CD territory), and my dad and nana both support CD, it makes it all the more sweater.

Bates is just so far ahead of Milne, IMO a terrible NZ selection, far too early, infact most bowlers on show in that match I'd play ahead of Milne. (I would say talent wise Milne's ahead though)

Finally Jimmy Adams plays a matchwinning knock, he's been pretty consistent, but that's what I was waiting for.

I'm still not sure where I'd bat de Grandhomme, he's not a number four, you'd have to either open with him or bat him in at 5/6. What a combination in the middle order Munro/de Grandhomme is though, imagine that at 6/7 on short boundaries if they both get going.

I'd say we need to play another AR/batsman at the CL, as the bowling there will be a much higher quality, and Mills at seven probably won't cut it, as we saw what happened today. I'm not sure who you'd drop, probably Tuffey.

I'm pretty glad Auckland won in the end, they were probably going to be our best chance in the champions league. I just wonder what Michael Bates has to do to make the Blackcaps...

Milne just seems to keep bowling that good length which just gets hammered in twenty20. You would think with Bond as his coach he would start bowling yorkers or something. I just hope that those games against Pakistan haven't ruined him.

Not sure why Auckland called up Quiney for that last game though, if they wanted someone for the champions league. Victoria should win the big bash pretty easily with the team they have.

For the Champion's League Auckland or ND would have done the best I reckon but then again I am biased :p

Bates' wickets were off poor shots for the most part apart from one of them but at least he knows how to bowl at the death, unlike Mills.

Milne is better in FC than T20, especially when you consider his death bowling. I think he's a big discouraged at the moment thanks to getting smacked around a bit but hopefully he can continue to develop and play well in the ODs and the remaining FC games.

thats what i posted earlier. They dont have to win, they just have to get in the finals to qualify.

luckily for us ND didn't win as they would've probably been the worst team as Hodge/Hussey (Victoria) and Gibbs (Cape Cobras) probably wouldn't have been available.

and lucky that auckland won, i'm sure that Oram would've been injured, Yardy/Blackwell would be playing english domestic cricket (champions league clashes with that) and Taylor would probably be playing for RCB so the best choice was Auckland :p

Man it sucks to know that our best domestic bowler (yeah I went there) has no chance of making it into the BLACKCAPS until after the World Cup, obviously I'm talking about Bates, who just continues to take wickets.

Gutted to lose by two runs chasing such an average total though, they were probably still on a high from thinking about going to the Champions League.

Wow, I gave up hope at 5-45 now I see we made it home only 6 down! What an innings by Cumming, he held it together and with some help from Butler and de Boorder he saw it home. Good bowling effort from our spinners and of course Wagner set that win up.

Yeah, but we lose so often, I thought Otago were always still in it and it wasn't a huge total. Good that Gillespie is back to help our bowling though...

de Boorder doesn't look too shabby with the bat, should be next in line after Young.

but haha we beat Auckland :D

Bates as the best domestic bowler is an interesting thought. Depends what you mean by domestic bowler though. If you mean not playing internationals, the in short form cricket quite possibly. But not in FC cricket. I'd put Wagner and Aldridge ahead of him.

Still, de Boorder bats below Butler...

In terms of OD and T20 I'd say Bates, but for FC I'd probably say Wagner.

I reckon de Boorder's better than Butler still. Haven't seen too much of de Boorder play but Butler's more of a slogger

It's quite hard to find a place for Bates in the ODI side though. Southee, Mills, Vettori, McCullum/Oram and then Styris + Williamson + Ryder should be the 50 overs in a full strength side.

I would of done what they were doing with Milne, but of done it with Bates.
So give him a couple of T20Is, and then see what happens from there.

----------

Why wasn't Milne playing for CD, dropped?

----------

Just saw he was 12th man, so he must of been dropped.
Man those T20Is tweaked him up.
