New Zealand Domestic Season

Well he's never played a OD match before so they wanted to play their tried and tested players?

And yea it would have been good to have Bates in the squad instead of Butler.

They were playing McClenaghan who has a terrible List A bowling record, and Nethula was making his List A debut. So I'd say he was just overlooked, which I guess is fair enough.

Bradley Scott just hit a six off the penultimate ball for us to beat CD :D

Hopkins continues his fine domestic form, even though his international career is now over.

I might as well make a prediction for the sake of it after the first two rounds, so I'll go with an Auckland - ND final.

It's alright to play five bowlers in T20 cricket, but in 50 over cricket it's a lot more of a gamble with Mills coming in at seven. It hurt us badly in the first game, which we really should have won from the position we were in.

It gets so frustrating guys like Hopkins, Fulton, Papps etc. are so woefully out of their depth at the top level, and then just come back in and plunder the domestic attacks. Good to see some young players do well today, Michael Bracwell got a quick 50 for Otago and 100 for Worker, also good to see Bennett back who might feature in the Pakistan ODIs.

Daniel Flynn has been crazy since the t20s he smashed in the HRV and 100 today. I still doubt him playing for NZ but I guess he is youngish and has more time.

He is young and trying to push for selection as an opener. I don't doubt he'll make it, but not until after the WC I'd say.

I think it is good the way he is reinventing himself, I thought he came into international cricket too early and now he almost looks like a new player. It's encouraging to see him open and not just shy away in the middle order. Did he open in the Plunket Shield earlier this season, or is it just for one day games??

I wouldn't say he's reinvented himself, Flynn's always been an aggressive batsmen, at youth level and domestic level. When he first broke into the New Zealand team early 2008 he did so on the back of some huge 100's scored at quicker then a run a ball. International cricket, especially test cricket probably came a season too early for him however. He was still finding his feet at the first class level.

He'll be back though, and given that he's now opening in all forms of the game it'll probably be quicker then most people think it'll be.

Ok yeah I didn't follow a lot of domestic cricket then, so I suppose I'm kind of basing him on his international stuff, so he looks a different player from that. I doubt Ryder will go through now until the World Cup injury free, so it is good to see someone else they could pick apart from Ingram. Although I hope they just give him the rest of the season for ND so he can just concentrate on that.

Legendary stuff from Vincent, 159 not out!!!

Milne's still not playing for CD, so either way (dropped or injured) you'd think he can't make the World Cup squad.
Bracewell got the flick to twelve man as well, behind McClenaghan.

135/6 to 279/9, we should be able to defend that with our bowling attack.

Probably the right time to go, we've got a lot of better young batsman around the club scene deserving of a go. Now its just time for other guys around domestic cricket like Sinclair etc. to follow suit.
