New Zealand Domestic Season

We've got too many players away which greatly weakens our batting lineup :(

Well actually not many but the guys left over aren't that great

Yeah you guys should be pretty disappointed to lose to us though, we suck :p

Although we were actually pretty strong today with Franklin and Ryder in the side.

Williamson, Styris, Vettori and Southee were with the team. I suppose its really to be expected though.

If Wellington could field a team that strong every game I reckon they would go close to winning just about every trophy available during the season. Unfortunately that isn't possible and they have zero depth at the moment, hence being cellar dwellers for the last few seasons.

Lol hasn't Vincent also done some part time keeping in the past as well?? Or maybe that was Mathew Sinclair.

I also just noticed the new finals format which looks pretty interesting...

He was the reserve keeper for that I think. How hasn't looked too bad in the games he's played this series, but is doing a Guptill and getting out early.

Jamie How

2 matches in 2009 - average 13.5, S/R 64
4 matches in 2010 - average 10.3, S/R 54
3 matches in 2011 - average 18.5, S/R 69

He's pretty much a Sinclair replica, bursting onto the international scene, but turning out to be a dud, and they're both from CD.

Hopefully this How bashing from me makes him score a 100 in his next bat. :)

You have a bunch of batsmen like that.. How, Fulton, Ingram, Flynn, N Broom, and Vincent isn't any world beater himself (referring to one of your previous posts).

Sinclair and How are really the only ones who have had multiple chances. I expect Flynn and possibly Broom to come back into the side at some later point

Yeah but he has played 102 ODIs at an average of 27. I have no doubt he would do better than How.

It is pretty funny though, everyone was crying out for How after the Champions league, and now we see once again he isn't up to it.

How's averaging 30.5 which is higher :p But from a much smaller sample of matches. His century against England was pretty good iirc.

Well his results demanded his inclusion in the side, because he was in such good form, and it was irritating seeing Guptill continually getting a shot despite doing nothing domestically.

Yeah thats the problem really. I feel Rob Nicol will go the same way, hes scoring a load of runs but I don't know about him at international level.

I know he's not a world beater, but none of our batsmen really are.

He had two parts to his ODI career:

2001 - 2003

62 matches, average 22, S/R 57

2005 - 2007

40 matches, average 35, S/R 87

You can probably see what I'm getting at.
Over the latter three year period between 2005 - 2007, those are good stats for a New Zealand ODI batsman.

He's been away in England for a few seasons, and he no longer plays FC cricket, so I have very little doubt that if he'd been given another chance he'd be an even more improved player.
