New Zealand Domestic Season

These are some pretty sorry stats if you ask me.

You just have to wonder how it's gone so wrong for someone, I'm referring to one BB McCullum.

This is without Bangladesh.

Hopkins - 11 matches, 180 runs @ 20 (S/R 81.81)
McCullum - 14 matches, 224 runs @ 18.66 (S/R 95.72)

I think it's just got to the point now where he has to be dropped. Like judging by that it's a total myth that he's so much better than the rest of the keepers here. They might as well chuck someone else in the mix now and see how they go, and if they go well keep them around so they can get some experience before the next world cup. Send McCullum back to domestic cricket and made him average like 60/70 or what not before he gets called back, like the likes of Nicol have to do before they even get considered for selection.

The reason I'm saying this is lets face it, ODI cricket is all about the world cup. Very few people care about these pointless ODIs they play between times. They just have to get someone else in there who's young enough now, and at least give them enough time to see if they are better than McCullum, which won't really be that hard to do.

its just that one format that mccullum lacks in, i'm sure if he continues to open the batting in that format, he'll probably get better pretty soon. Of course he wont be able to prove this until South Africa come late summer next year.

So you're saying that he hasn't already had enough opportunities opening the batting?

haha they just showed Crowe in the nets on the news. Was middling it pretty well!

New Zealand news: Cobham Oval approved as an international venue | New Zealand Cricket News | ESPN Cricinfo

Hmmm, I think this is getting a bit stupid now. Sure it's a good cricket ground, but it's just going to be another University Oval where they struggle to get 1000 people there a day. Just bring test cricket back to Auckland FFS.

Iain O'Brien returning to New Zealand cricket | Stuff.co.nz

What joke the ECB is, they let all the South Africans play there as a pathway to get into the South African team (or England in some cases), while they don't let someone who's retired from international cricket and is married to someone who lives there play. Still, it'll be good to see him back, because he's definitely a better option than Arnel is, and he's slightly younger than Martin, so provided he's good enough he should be able to play a bit before the likes of Wagner, Boult etc. are all ready to play test cricket.

It'll be great to have O'Brien back :D He'll definitely give the attack a boost if selected

I don't see the point of 3 T20s v SAfrica. 1T20 and 3ODIs and then 4 tests could work, or 1T20 and a 5ODI series.

Yeah, the good thing is the T20Is aren't really cutting into the tests against South Africa, which has been happening lately with us, because we were never really going to get more than three tests against them. Like you said I think it's more a 3 ODI - 3 T20I split, rather than a 5 ODI - 1 T20I split like what normally happens in the past.

Sweet! Uni Oval get's a South Africa test! I was always hoping we would get one after the ground has been upgraded and boundaries extended but I wasn't really confident because the pitch hasn't been consistently good down here.
