New Zealand Domestic Season

Good to see Ian O'Brien back to New Zealand Cricket! very active cricketer with lots of energy always! :yes

Finn and Wagner will be a formidable opening duo

There was an article on Stuff not too long ago about the CD bowling stocks - Mason has retired and a number of the young ones are injured for the season :/

FC season started today :) Wellington have done well to rip through the strong Central lineup on what is apparently a flat pitch. Boult is bowling really well but I'm not sure why Southee hasn't bowled more... seems kind of ominous. Nicol meanwhile is going strong, having just brought up his century with a six against the fancied Otago bowling lineup

I had no idea the season was starting already, not sure why considering it starts around now every year.

I'm not sure why Auckland need to get these has-been's from other provinces like Neal Parlane and Bruce Martin, surely there's enough talent inside our catchment area.

Lol at Otago's and Wellington's bowling attacks. Otago just have a crap load of bowlers (Nat McCullum will be batting at six), while Wellington have Franklin opening their bowling, and they will have have like Woodcock batting at nine.

Well this isn't looking too good for Auckland now. This is sort of pitch we have to prepare against South Africa next year to give us a chance, otherwise the South African batsmen are just going to demolish our attack. In saying that Steyn and Morkel would be licking their lips, but our batting's definitely stronger than our bowling on paper.

It's just so sad that someone like Adams has only played one test, except Bond (and possibly Chris Martin) he's been New Zealand's best FC fast bowler this decade, continually dominating English county cricket and our domestic cricket. Yes I know both of those countries are favourable to his bowling, but still in a country that has had useless fast bowlers for my whole life (with a few exceptions), he no doubt would have been up there. I've got no idea why Bruce Martin is batting above him as well. Last country season Adams was averaging 24 with the bat with five fifties, which is the same amount Martin has got in his 95 FC matches.

Why hasn't he played another Test? Just not selected or because he went to England?

Adams was dropped because he wasn't bowling very well in ODIs and then he went to England. I have no idea why he wasn't selected for tests despite his ODI bowling though. And I have no idea why he wasn't selected later after he started gunning it again.

@Callum, We have a pretty brittle batting lineup so I think our match will come pretty close. McGlashan can bat, but Devcich isn't very good at anything.

Also, I don't think it's because of the pitch that the scores are pretty low, ND have a pretty bad batting lineup and Auckland's isn't too strong without their internationals either, while both have pretty awesome bowling lineups

Following on from what Chewie said he just went out of favour with the selectors. Several years ago he was mainly an OD player, but he was always on the fringe of our ODI set-up with the likes of Oram/Styris/Mills/Oram/Cairns/Harris/Bond/Tuffey etc. all ahead of him in the pace bowling spots.

When the ICL came along he went and played in that and English county cricket because he was always in and out of the national team and wanted some security, and although he'd had stints over in England in the past he really started to come into his own in the FC game when he played permanently over there. Last season he was the 2nd top wicket taker and the season before that he was the top wicket taker. And since the ICL players have been allowed back into our domestic comp. he's just been dominating. He's now predominately a FC player over there now, compared to what he was several years ago here.

NORTHERN KNIGHTS require 50 runs to win with 4 wickets in hand and 118.0 overs remaining.

It's going to be close.
