New Zealand Domestic Season

An alright first day for the Aces, although because McIntosh scored a hundred our run rate was way down at one stage. CdG and Adams have however gone someway towards rectifying that.

I still don't know why we're wasting our time with Neal Parlane, 7 runs off 60 balls...

Andre Adams - 79 not out off 54 balls, and Bruce Martin has been batting above him, errr... wtf.

Central Districts with a lead of 206 look well poised in the Plunket Shield match against Canterbury. At the close of the 3rd day's play, they were 150-3 in 41 overs.Matthew Sinclair was unbeaten on 37 and Greg Todd batting on 7.The dismissed batsmen were skipper Jamie How(17),Ben Smith(20) and Peter Ingram who scored a gritty 62 off 79 balls including 8 hits to the fence.
Canterbury bowlers Todd Astle,Will Lonsdale and Logan van Beek took a wicket each.

Ouch, it looks like we're going to lose to Wellington.

Tbh though we were asking for a collapse with Mills batting at six, so it's not really surprising to see us get rolled for 125.

Good fightback from our lower order, but you feel that we're still under par considering Wellington are only playing three bowlers.

Why do Auckland keep on tweaking around with their team? Just put Adams in there and we would've cleaned up CD for like 200, instead now Noema-Barnett's made 100 and their number ten made 42.

On top of that we keep on playing these has been rejects in Parlane and Bruce Martin, who weren't even wanted by weaker more average teams (:p). Not to mention last year we got rid of the now best FC spinner in the country in Nethula, who averages under half of what Bruce Martin does this season.

On another note it's kind of funny how Finn's hardly taking any wickets. Wagner keeps on showing him up with three times as many wickets in pretty much the same amount of overs.

The weather's not looking too flash for the televised match in Auckland today.

Even though I'd prefer it if they were playing FC cricket, the thing that the HRV Cup does has going for it is that it's televised, so we can see how domestic players go that we normally wouldn't be able to see.

If de Grandhomme can continue his hot start to the season it could get messy for some of the other teams, FC - 391 @ 98 (S/R 82) and OD - 117 @ 59 (S/R 122). I'm also keen to see how Munro, Hira, and Bates go, all of them are T20 specialist prospects for the future.

it was incredibly cold out there today, the 12 over game was perfect considering it started raining again straight after the game finished. was nice to see murali and brendan taylor and of course an aces win over the stronger firebirds.

I'd take our batting line-up over Wellington's. In terms of depth they were pretty weak, which is why it was always going to be the case of just getting those first few wickets. Bowling wise without Murali their attack would be pretty average, but with Murali they were pretty even.

Wellington have still never beaten us in a T20, it's now nine wins in a row to Auckland.

That was a great game today, one of the better T20 games I've seen. That takes us to the top of the table at the halfway stage of the competition.

Our major worry atm is our batting. Besides Guptill (Ave 72, SR 162), our other five batsmen have been pretty ordinary, with no 50s between them:

Hopkins - Ave 25, SR 123
Kitchen - Ave 24, SR 129
de Grandhomme - Ave 16, SR 150
Munro - Ave 14, SR 98
Cachopa - Ave 11, SR 90

Azhar Mahmood's been useless to say the least:

Batting - Ave 8, SR 118
Bowling - Ave 42, Econ 9.6

We really need a lot more from him, otherwise I'd be on the phone asap to an overseas batsman who can beef up our top order.

That was probably the only game of the competition so far worth watching (out of the televised ones). Pretty poor bowling at the end from Canterbury though, Andy Ellis bowled it right in the slot for Guptill.

I wondered what happened to McClenaghan, I see hes in the Auckland A lineup. Probably a good move he was never really going to get anywhere with all the other good young fast bowlers CD had.

Great innings' from Guptill and Azhar, he was due a good performance and he delivered.

They should change that beamer rule to just one allowed before being taken off bowling. Whether it is deliberate or not, I struggle to see how the bowler is allowed to continue when he's just injured the batsmen so much that he can't continue. Surely common sense should have prevailed last night, and the bowler should have got the flick as well, since he just took out the most destructive batsmen in the country.

Wellington are such a joke, 90 all out... :lol

Not to mention their new international player looks pretty fail, he averages under 20 with a S/R of under 120. And in the recent Zimbabwe T20 competition he scored only 99 runs at 12, and I assume that the standard of our T20 competition is better than theirs.

I'm not sure why the Knights let Bruce Martin go, because he just destroyed them. :lol

Guptill's just continued on his great form, in what looks to be some pretty tough batting conditions.

I'm watching the delayed coverage of the Cant - CD game on TV atm, so I don't know the final result yet, but Latham (on debut) is playing a blinder.

Does anyone know what's up with Daryl Tuffey? He hasn't played a game yet this season.
