A usual Napier road seems to be producing a draw, and rain has made the match down South a non-event.

Wow 61 all out? Don't know whats going on with the pitch but the otago bowling attack is pretty quality with Wagner and Finn opening up. It will be pretty interesting to see how Wagner goes when he does play international cricket.

I also don't know why the heck auckland have taken Neal Parlane in, I mean even we didn't want him. May as well have had Crowe in there

Neal Parlane is still a quality batsman though. Wellington just wanted to focus more on their youth I think.

Did they change it? I thought there were points for first innings?

I think they've changed it so it's somewhat similar to the County system but without the points for a draw

Does anyone know why Andre Adams isn't playing this round?

I'm not sure why we need so many bowlers, we're playing five more or less specialists as well as de Grandhomme. Surely we could play another batsmen instead of one of Bruce Martin or Bhupinder Singh.

Really strange but I guess maybe they have to play Martin and Mills to give them a match before the Aus tour. He also had a go at NZC so not sure whether that could have something to do with it?

Adams, Auckland's overseas import this summer, is primarily back for the HRV Cup T20 and Ford Trophy one-day competitions.

But when Auckland were skinny on experience for the start of the shield Adams answered the call - with bells on.

Good to see Southee getting some wickets, in the past I would have said we have a crap batting order so you can't take much out of it but this is the strongest Wellington batting lineup I've seen in the last 5 years.

Brownlie scored a century so I think he'll probably get the number 6 position for the Australia series. Southee in great form as well, and Boult going pretty well too.

What are Canterbury up to? Have they not read the new FC points system where you get no points for a draw, because it's almost lunch and they have a lead of 350 runs, but they're still not declaring. And this follows on from them declaring in their first innings with Ellis on 97 not out...

Edit: Ok, they just did it as I posted this. Still I think they might have left it a little too late, although our batting's pretty weak with Mills at seven.
