5. M Hussey
6. A Good Batsmen
7. Hopes
8. Johnson
9. Bracken
10. McGain

Future
1. Haddin
2. Clarke

5. Symonds
6. Hussey
7. Watson
8. Johnson
9. Lee
10. Bracken
11. McGain

Looks unbeatable to me.

Well played Kiwis and specially Elliot.

WC telling this? was it you who typed or someone from your system?:p

I wonder why there is no specialist openers for NewZealand. Fleming and Astle were the best among the different combos i have seen playing for Kiwis. Fulton at no 3 and Taylor at 4, McCullum coming down at no 7 with two specialist openers at top should make it perfect.

Kiwis selection panel should leave their ego and start hunting for Bond back in the squad. It's really a stupid policy that keeps Bond out of playing his national side. :mad

White won us the came tonight

Still no specialist spinner for Adelaide. Siddle comes in for Harris and Warner dropped out of the squad for the last 2 ODIs. Now question is will Siddle and Voges get a run as seems pointless having them there if you aren't going to play them.

Won't happen but this is what I would go with

Clarke
Haddin
Ponting
Ferguson
Voges
Hussey
Hopes
Johnson
Siddle
Bracken
Hilfenhaus

I don't think Haddin will stay at opener for too long. The interview he gave near the end of the Aussie innings made it sound like he prefers the middle order. I think he's a natural 6 or more likely 7, a guy who you can take the batting powerplay with as he hits over the top well.

Watson and Marsh are still my openers for the next few years.

Dunno about Clarke's future though. He plays well at the top as he can set his own pace and play himself in. Sometimes at 4,5 or 6 he forced things a bit too much. I think his best spot would be #3 actually. He would do well digging in after a quick wicket and would be able to play with freedom if the first wicket falls with plenty of runs on the board. But then what to do with a guy called Ponting?

Haddin's position should be decided in the next 2 matches. But from what I saw of him yesterday opener is his position whether he likes it or not. Hes like Watson, needs time to get in and then he can unleash. Batting at 6 or 7 means he usually is coming in with 10 overs left and he has to gun it straight off which isn't his thing. He isn't the best placer of the ball like Hussey and Ferguson so to hit the boundary he goes for his hit over the top but when the timing isn't there hes getting out and he blasted for throwing his wicket away. Which pretty much was the case in all his ODIs this summer bar the Perth match.

What a innings from Grant Elliot, he has improved so much since he made his debut. And I enjoyed seeing McCullum down the order, would much rather see him down there every game. Would most people agree that this is now NZ's best ODI team

1.Martin Guptill
2.Jesse Ryder
3.Ross Taylor
4.Grant Elliot
5.Neil Broom/Scott Styris
6.Jacob Oram
7.Brendon McCullum
8.Kyle Mills
9.Tim Southee
10.Daniel Vettori
11.Iain O'Brien

Yep, same one I posted. I agree with that being our strongest. I liked Elliot at 4. He surprised me, I didn't expect him to play such lovely attacking shots. I knew he was a great single, 2 and 3 getter. He played the spinners well using his feet.

Geez that lower order is scary, Oram and McCullum in full flight could chase down any total. Southee and Mills can also help out with the hitting and Elliott has shown he can attack. If you get Styris then you have 3 guys to fill the 5th bowling option with all 3 being above part timers.

I would like to keep Haddin in the opening stage. He looked really comfortable in the opening position yesterday. And he did what we have been failing to do all summer, and that was keep the runs scoring. So many times have we had good starts, but then lost them. Haddin made 109, which gave us the oppourtunity to make atleast 250, and then the tail enders could get a 50 run partnership between the 4 of them, to get us around the 300 mark.

He sets up the whole game, if he plays opener

Clarke should stay as openner. Haddin proved me wrong. I thought he would bat senseless but i suppose he might do that when under pressure chasing. But anyway when Watson and Marsh come back they can slot into the middle order. Ferguson has showed versatility that lacked in the batting. If all goes well then a WC side like this:
Haddin
Clarke
Ponting
S. Marsh
Ferguson (if he can continue the form)
M. Hussey
Watson
Hopes
Johnson
Bracken
Spinner/back up pacer

5 very good bowlers, explosive batting lower order, reliable middle order and highly potential, young top order. All it needs is consistency in the top 3 and for Ryder to become sober. This is one that could be a world beater for the future. As someone mentioned before: scary line up.

If you get Styris then you have 3 guys to fill the 5th bowling option with all 3 being above part timers.

Well yeah. Oram can bowl 10 at full fitness. Depends. He won't have to if guys like Elliot, Ryder and Styris (if he fits in) bowl some overs. I like the balance.

My side

Haddin
Hopes
Ponting
Clarke
D.Hussey
M.Hussey
C.White
Johnson
Siddle
hilfenhaus
Bracken

the great aussie hope warner has been dropped for the next 2 games.

They should give Hopes a chance as an opener to see how well he bats up there. He can play really agressively as an opener(see his IPL matches if you don't believe me) and the reason for his poor batting form was he comes in pressure situations and gets out quickly. So in the next game I like to see either Haddin/Hopes or Clarke/Hopes opening.
