New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

Southee to go crazy with only Arnel and Martin left?
What are the chances of him doing what he did in Napier again.

Edit: Well, obviously not too flash, as he's out of here.

I think Southee prefers pace bowling to spin. Though Monty was one of the bowlers he smacked about in Napier.

Good to see these two sticking around to lunch, though I'd very much like to see Martin try to actually be aggressive :lol Would be so funny and frustrating

:lol

They have a long-on inplace for Martin!!!

Does Dhoni know who he's bowling to?

Well so far this series we'd dominated 4 out of the 6 days, so we were due another bad day/India were due a good day.

It is looking rather messy though, considering they still have Dravid, Sachin and VVS to come, plus their other hit and miss player's, Raina, Dhoni and Harbhajan.

Viru 'smacker' Sehwag showing NZ how its done! Its almost like 'enough of the dollies folks, time now for the real stuff'. Good bowling from Zak and Bhajji to keep NZ to only 350. On this pitch after that first day, that was a super effort.

I agree that its harder to get out teams on Indian pitches, that play more defensive cricket. Thats why NZ have been batting pretty well so far in this tour. Our bowling isnt the best attack in the world and we knew it since long. We have remained No.1 due to our batsmen and the bowlers have just supported them.

The way Sehwag is going, he looks like he is going to completely mess NZ's uprise in the series so far.:D Hope he goes even farther in that quest

it's funny how this test and PakVSA one have been quite similar.

both teams batting first making pretty great scores, openers posting centuries, middle order a couple of big 50s, second day, they both collapse on the second day with both opposition making fairly solid opening partnerships (pakistan posting a 50 for the 1st wicket is unheard of)

NZ haven't really been batting defensively, they've just been trying to occupy the crease.
McIntosh was the only one of our batsmen to play very defensively, plus Guptill was defensive at the beginning of his innings considering he was making a comeback.
3 runs an over for a test match is more or less par when you don't have Sehwag in your team, it's just that most of the test matches you watch are ones that Sehwag's playing in, so you're use to seeing RR's in the range of 3.5 - 4 runs an over.
India's RR was just 2.6 in their second innings last match, guess why, because Sehwag failed.
Even in the first innings when Sehwag made 173 off 199, your guys total RR was only 3.2.

Haha FAIL. Finally, another one before close and it wont look all to bad.

What a day for India, great bowling folded the NZ below 100 and then the openers pwned the NZ bowlers.

Openers out but a long batting to follow, India should atleast get 550 to put some great pressure on NZ.

The modern fields of modern captains usually involve placing fielders on the boundary rather early in the innings to control the run flow. Dhoni began with men round the bat and in the circle for the spinners, but it took only one slog sweep from Jesse Ryder - off Ojha's second ball in the sixth over of the day - for him to push Sehwag from midwicket to deep midwicket. When Vettori was bowling later in the evening, Sehwag slog swept him to the vacant midwicket boundary to move to 96. Vettori continued operating with that part of the field unprotected and, a ball later, Sehwag aimed to bring up his century in that region and was bowled.

That's more or less the difference between a decent captain (Vettori), and an average captain (Dhoni).

Damn Sehwag. SR under 100

Well done Kiwies to keep that quite.

All the comments on the cricinfo page are really annoying. They just complain how we were batting too slow and were aiming from a draw from the beginning. I just want to shout fearsome tweak you idiots to them

Dhoni's captaincy magic died years ago. And it's just plain ugly to see him become so defensive. He shows no faith in his bowlers. And I can't really blame him for that. But 1 or 2 shots shouldn't bother him so much.

If I am not wrong, he has been doing that for quite a while now
