New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

Pathetic performance by NZ batsman, yes normally players struggle when they play on these spinning tracks and who are used to green pitches, lets hope they come back strong, as usual a very good bowling performance by Murli, Mendis also bowled well....

Is pathetic the right word to describe the batting, I don't think it is. NZ did better then I thought they would considering what happened during the match. It wasn't good but I would hardly call it pathetic.

For reasons which I can't figure out yet Diamanti has been added to the one day squads.

He has :facepalm

I don't see why the selectors rate him, he can hardly bat and his bowling is no beter then Ryder's and Elliott's.

Diremanti's crap. He bowls pies and sure, he can hit a few sixes off the average 130km nz domestic bowler, but saying he's an all-rounder. That's just absurd. Fingers crossed we never have to play him.

Another Glenn Turner special probably.

Good to see the Canberra Raiders aren't the only one having problems with a Glen Turner.

From the highlights I saw in the news, there was some very shoddy defence by the Kiwi batters against Murali.

Yeah. Its very unfortunate that Brendon McCullum is so inconsistent for such an exciting talent!:noway

Some call Ryan Harris an allrounder as well.
No big deal.
Kyle Mills can be considered an allrounder as his batting technique is very sound and he plays with a straight bat as illustrated in the last England tour.
I wonder if he's injured or simply ignored.

Kyle Mills is in the one day squad.

The selectors now include Moles and Vettori, so there will be few excuses from here on.

Well the squads for this tour have been annouced awhile ago and I am not sure if they had input on the CT squad either. Regardless it I can't see any major changes just minor ones.

Northern Districts bias :D

I know it's gonna be great isn't it! Brent Arnel's finally gonna get a chance to justify his central contract. And Kane Williamson's gonna get called up a couple of years too early and maybe, just maybe Hamish Marshall might return to the international field.

Vettori and Moles in New Zealand's selection panel
In a move that could radically change how cricket teams are selected, New Zealand Cricket has formally appointed captain Daniel Vettori and coach Andy Moles as national selectors. With voting rights given to them, Vettori and Moles will now have a powerful say in selection matters

Really a good move....But i dont think BCCI will follow them, nor rather any Asian boards will follow...But if they do it will be really good...

Looks like Tuffey is set to replace O'Brien for the second test. Patel better do something this time round, fast becoming one of my most hated players.

Why O'Brien. He wasn't as bad as Patel was. :S

Unless it's a real dust-bowl I guess.
