WARNE SPINS SOME MAGIC

Despite being out of form the great leg spinner Shane Warne has spun his way back onto the scorecard. Warne pitched his classical leg break right on leg stump, drawing How into a sweep. The ball then spun over the bat and cannoned into off stump. Australia seems to have suddenly awoken?

KIWIS STUMBLING

Yet another wicket has fallen without any runs being added since the last. Scott Styris, who has been horribly out of form in this series made another low score as the Kiwis begin to flounder. Styris opened his shoulders and attempted to smack a pitched up ball from Gillespie through the covers. The ball found the outside edge and was taken comfortably by Gilly. The Kiwis are in real trouble here?.

Australia slaughtered the Kiwis top order in the latter part of the session with two wickets to Dizzy Gillespie and one to Shane Warne. The Kiwis have really got to focus now if they want to retain any hope of drawing the match?

WARNE CLAIMS HIS SECOND

Shane Warne is now looking extremely dangerous after removing Hamish Marshall for just 15. Marshall's slow but steady innings came to an end when he tried to cover drive Warne through the field. The ball brushed past the edge on its way through and gave Gilchrist a simple catch behind the stumps. The edge was so faint that the Aussies had to appeal loudly for a long time before the umpire's finger eventually went up...

Warnie is back in form. I like it  I think Australia can win this game now. The Kiwis have blown it. They need to break this partnership as quick as possible otherwise the Kiwis could still come away with a draw.

Excellent work as always, (Good to see back with the story)

:cheers mate

I have most of today off so I'll be looking to update it as much as possible.

Why isn't this a sticky anymore? I think it has gotten better and better. Keep it up Cricket_60!

It was sticky because I won the Best Story Award in april. Whenever you win that your thread is stickied for a month.

Australia are well and truely on top in this innings. The Kiwis have to find some way out of this mess they are in if they want to just draw the match...

ASTLE PROVIDES SUPPORT

Nathan Astle is showing signs of form as the Kiwis stuggle to stay alive in the game. Astle has just reached his half century and is looking in good touch. However, there is still a lot of work to be done...

ASLTE SCORES A MEMORABLE CENTURY

Nathan Astle has single handedly brought his team back into the contest with a brilliant century. Astle has scored runs at all parts of the ground and has not been afraid to go after the likes of Lee and Warne. Australia seem to be loosing their grip on the game...

N.Astle 101(184)*
B.McCullum 35(97)*
J.How 84(106)
NZ: 5/305 (100)

LEE SHATTERS KIWI JOY

Brett Lee has again chimed in just minuted before the end of the session to remove McCullum from the crease and hand the advantage back to the Australian?s. Lee split McCullum in two with a beautiful ball that nipped in after pitching on off. The Kiwi keeper played all over it and was trapped LBW as he tried to fend the ball off his pads towards cover?

New Zealand are still in a good position despite loosing their last recognized batsmen late in the day. If they added another 100-150 runs with their tail most would think that a draw could be the only outcome...
