End of 11 overs

Alastair Cook and Tim Ambrose opened the batting for England . England had been set a target of 180 in 20 overs by the Kiwis . England needed a real good start but it didn't happen . Shane Bond struck in the first over to get rid of Alastair Cook . Cook tried to go over covers for a huge one but found the fielder Franklin on the boundary and easily held by Franklin . Alastair Cook departed for a 0 of 6 balls and England were 1/1 . new man in was Ian Bell . James franklin was given the ball . And from the first ball itself Tim Ambrose looked to attack franklin . Tim Ambrose played a late cut which beat third man on the left side and went for 4 . The next ball same shot by Tim Ambrose beat the third man on his right and went for 4 . Tim Ambrose the next ball gave the strike to Ian Bell . Last ball of the over Ian Bell played a similar shot to that Cook and was caught by bond at the boundary . ian Bell departed for 0 of 2 balls and England were 10/2 .

Kevin Pietersen who gave 32 runs of his last over had to prove with his bat over here . Kp and Tim got some important runs for England . They got some important fours of Franklin and Bond . Tim Ambrose played a great cover drive which beat the cover fielder for 4 . Pietersen pulled Franklin for a 4 and also freed his arms by going over the top . Kp and Tim also rotated the strike and this made the bowlers unsettle with any one batsman . Kyle Mills was given the ball after being expensive as he went for 25 in his 2 overs . Kyle Mills was a great bowling change as he was very hard to hit for 4 or 6 and he also got the main wicket of KP in his first over . Pietersen got the inside edge and easily caught by McCullum . Kevin Pietersen departed for 19 of 11 balls and England were 48/3 .

Skipper Paul Collingwood was in at a very difficult time for England when they had lost 3 of their best batsmen . Paul Collingwood and Tim Ambrose were rotating the strike . Shane Bond had finished his spell by going for just 26 runs in his 4 overs with 1 wicket . Kyle Mills continued and stroked . This time was Paul Collingwood who got the inside edge while going for a big one and easily caught again by McCullum . Collingwood departed for 3 of 3 balls and England were 58/4 . England were in deep trouble as Owais Shah came into bat . Jacob Oram was given the ball and he went for a few runs as Ambrose smashed him over point for a boundary otherwise he bowled well . Mills was given a rest as Styris was given the ball . Styris went for only on four of his over and that one came of Ambrose's bat beating mid on . Vettori bought himself into the attack and again 9 runs were scored . Owais Shah this time played a late cut which raced away for 4 . After 11 overs England were 80/4 and needed 100 runs of 9 overs .

England need 100 runs in 54 balls was a bit difficult but not impossible . Ambrose and Shah were playing they rotated the strike as well as played their shots . Vettori continued and as Shah smashed Vettori for six over extra cover it looked like the both the batsmen had made up their mind to take on the bowlers . Ambrose also scored a great four of the same over between extra cover and long off . Franklin was given the ball again and Shah smashed him out of the ground for a huge six . This was getting interesting an Ambrose and Shah attacked the bowlers . New Zealand needed a breakthrough and very quickly . England had scored over 20 runs in 2 overs and that was just the same required run rate they needed . But it was Vettori who got the breakthrough . Tim Ambrose trying to go over square leg but was caught by Franklin . Ambrose departed just 1 run short of his half century . Great innings by Ambrose came to an end .

Ravi Bopara and Owais Shah continued the attack . Bopara smashed Oram out of the ground for a huge six . Owais Shah took the charge and smashed Vettori over extra cover for surely the longest six of the match . With that he reached his half century which just took 32 balls . The crowd stood up to applaude this man has he had given them a bit of hope and England had a great chance of winning this match now . Owais Shah and Ravi Bopara got some important boundaries of Franklin who was very expesive in his 4 overs for going over more that 60 runs . Kyle Mills was bought into the attack . as England needed 24 runs of the last 2 overs .

Owais Shah smashed Kyle Mills for 4 the first ball between Long on and Long off . Shah took a single to give Bopara the strike . Kyle Mills got 2 consecutive dots balls and the 5th ball Mills struck . Bopara under pressure going for the big one got the edge and well taken by McCullum . Bopara departed for 24 of 12 balls . Dimi Masceranhas was the new man in . He didnt last long as he was caught by McCullum of the last ball of Mills over . Mills was on a hatrick in the next match . England needed 19 runs of 6 balls .

Jacob Oram was given the ball and Vettori looked a lot confident . Shah smashed Oram for four over mid wicket the first ball . England now needed 15 of 5 balls . The next ball Oram struck . Shah trying to play the same shot but this time he found the fielder Ross Taylor taking a great shot and which was gonna be the match winning catch as Shah departed for a wonderful 62 runs . Anderson new man in got of the strike the first ball by guiding the ball towards the third man region . England needed 14 of 3 balls . Kiwis didn't want any extras over here but Oram bowled a wide ball . Now England needed 13 of 3 balls . Next ball Broad smashed Oram over mid wicket for another four and now England needed 9 of 2 balls . kiwis needed a dot ball and that was what Oram bowled . A slow leg cutter beating Broad . England had lot the match unless NZ give any extras . England needed 9 of 1 balls . Last ball Broad smashed Oram for 4 between long off and long on but that was useless as England had lost the match and New Zealand won it by 4 runs ,

New Zealand beat England by 4 runs .
