Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

I was worried that I jinxed him the moment I said that.

Fark.

On that note, Cook's batting terribly. He's been awful, really.

I doubt Colly's gonna hang around there much longer either.

Picked it!

Great stuff from Siddle, in just a couple of overs England now in trouble. Don't you love test cricket.

Siddle is really a bowler with momentum , once he get going he's unstoppable.

This is a huge innings for Bell, hes been in great form so far this tour but the test matches are a different story.

Siddle bowled way too short that over, seemed he forgot how he got his 2 wickets as it certainly wasn't bowling that length. Hopefully Bell smacking him for four is the reminder he needed as next ball was on the mark.

It's a tactic, I'm beginning to feel. I think Ponting believes his best chance of getting Bell is by roughing him up with the short stuff. Doesn't seem like the most prudent of plans though with this loopy bounce. The batsmen have too much time to play their shots.

Impressed with Doherty so far. He's more than just a "tweaker" as War puts it, that's for sure. He has something about him. I like him because he's aggressive and shows genuine wicket-taking intent, unlike Hauritz who went for runs but wasn't particularly adventurous or attacking. I'm not a Hauritz hater, unlike most, but he was basically an honest trier. Nothing more.

I wanted to see some KP fire power vs this new kid. Bells trying to be aggressive . 1 more wicket and here comes those "all rounder" English tail.

Silly if it is, Siddle got his 2 wickets by pitching it up, this pitch ain't one to try bouncing out a player. And if it was a tactic bit strange to take Siddle off. Johnson releasing the pressure again, dam hes a frustrating bowler.

Agree this is what he showed during his ODI debut against SL. Unlucky not to have a wicket but once he gets one that should be the confidence he needs to take more. Just needs to get his arm ball out.

I was just guessing because Siddle had shown some very good control until then. Might have been wrong.

Siddle justified his selection by that spell. Johnson is the only weak link in the Aussies bowling lineup. Imagine a bowling lineup with Bollinger in place of Johnson, that would be hell for England.

Seems to sum up Siddle problem, he can be brilliant but there are times where he just loses his brain and bowls too short and gets picked off. Prime example just then.
