ODI Tri-Series (Malaysia)

THAT SUCKS!!! oh my god India were never in this game!!
not really ? 245 from 50 overs was gettable.
only when 4.8rpo target was altered to 6.5rpo that it all went wrong.

I still believe that had it been a 50 over gam, India were well in it.

We are still very much in the series and I back them to win their next gam.
We`ve had enough rain now . We need to start playing full 50 over games before the ICC Champs Trophy.

Yes it definatelt was gettable but not the way India were playing.
I believe the media has always over-hyped our team.It did so last time when they scored 309 against the Windies.
Rain or no rain,India has now lost its last ODI's straight.
Mr Chappell needs to rethink the experimentation policy.
Too much a thing is not good.

weather played 80% role there....Not an normal tactics enough to play in such a weather condition...& it was fair that match was drawn!!!

Sure? You want to say that Aus deserve to lose in this match.

You mean to say that if there was no rain India would not have been at
5-34 ?
Meaning that the players say the rain coming and decided its better to watch the match from the pavillion ,because if we play we might get a cold and will be out for the rest of the tournament ?

Or, our players thought that if we lose quick wickets we might be able to win as the Windies won against us the other night ? :p

No surendar,I believe that our team lost it once they lost the quick wickets.
I also feel that Sehwag should not be opening.

If we reach the World Cup Finals, you may just see RP Singh and Irfan opening the batting in that game.

Then do u mean to say India deserve to loose  They have bowled excellent in the later part of the innings.... By the way they bowled initialy was looking like the repeat of WC2003 final!!!

Also their batting form was good enough to get 243 in normal conditions!!! its not fair to say tht "india is sure to loose" becos they lost 5 quick wickets in unlikely conditions!!! Thats why i said its fair that match was drawn!!! :)

Aus did deserve to lose. India were robbed. How the hell did they come to 170 in 29 overs? India were being penalised for doing nothing wrong bowling wise! WTF! They came out to bat with rain a possiblitity, and needed 63/0 after 20 to secure a win if rain intervened at that point. Rain came in after 5 overs, when they were batting slowly and steadily. They return, and for some insane reasn their RRR was 6.5?? WTF? It is madness. Why did they need to chase 6.5 RPO? Couldn't they chase 135 off 29 overs instead, at a more manageable RRR, and one which was closer to their RRR at the beggining of the innings? India were robbed. An easy win was turned to a near-impossible one due to some insanity from the Umpires, or due to the crap and ineffective Duckworth-Lewis rule.

An easy win after the team was 5-34 ?
Agreed that D/L is ineffective, but India could have stayed coll and calm they could have done it without losing the wickets.

Its not about bowling well its about performing well throughout the match. If you have seen the 1st match where WI dominated more than 75% of the game and then Australians showed them their 25% effort and they won.

Yup gaurav is right.
Windies collapse is one of the worst I have ever come across.

Well, you may say that India could have bounced back from 5-34 too.
Just as in the case of a collapse, you cannot predict a bounce-back too.

But,i really dont attribute the Indian collapse to external factors-mainly the weather alone.

hmm mate hold on.... one thing just a reminder to u.....

at the end of 5 overs ---India were 16/0

After rain they played just three overs with that unfair rule(DL) coming into play...... at asking rate of more than 6 per over from the position they were.....which is never going to be easy on that condition......so its unfair to compare the performance with just 8 overs gone!!!!

Also i need to remind u again of the VB series final where Aussies got 300 plus after a worst collapse ( 10/5 i think)

Better thing is just to look forward for the next match;)

# Rain: India - 16/0 in 5.0 overs (R Dravid 2, SR Tendulkar 11)
# Rain: India - 35/5 in 8.0 overs (SK Raina 1)
# Indian Innings was revised to 29 overs after rain interrupted play with India at 16/0 in 5 overs
# Par Score under D/L Method (29 overs) would be 169

They fell to 35/5 after they needed an insane target. otherwise, 16/0 chasing either 63/0 after 20 or 245 after 50 is perfectly fine.

Sorry, I'm a bit out of the circle of info here, what was the insane target? Why was such an insane target required?

Oh my gosh! First, thank god India got away with 2 points. That should make it quite interesting now. First of all, 170 off 29 overs was s**t!!! I mean, the Indian bowlers bowled superbly to get back at Australia and set themselves up for a run rate of just below 5 an over. And the D/L method screws it all up and gives them an over 6 runs per over run rate??? I heard the D/L method favors the team batting second. Here it favored Australia who batted first? Is the D/L method supposed to be against India?

Anyways, after that much rain and the outfield being wet and the air becoming relatively cooler, it gave Johnson more swing and seam movement which he exploited superbly. Thats what Dravid said too. And that coupled with the pressure of chasing a 6.5+ runs per over against the best side in the world has definitely made the big impact on the Indian batsmen. Had we batted without any interruptions and had chased 245, I would give india 98% of chasing the total down successfully. So the Indians were again at the wrong side of the luck.

But to get away with 2 points was fortunate and in that way, things evened out just a little bit for India! Now India needs to beat the Windies and also beat Australia to enter the finals. Since Windies finish their league games ahead of India, its in India's favor that they will know where they stand when they face Australia in the final league clash!

I seriously hope this jinxed rain stays off India's back. At least for the remainder of this series!

That was the 170 needed off 29 overs, which was insane due to the D/L method.

Great bowling by Johnson, coming of age now. It's a shame rain intervened, would have been a good chase and by no means did India have it wrapped up especially when Aus one McGrath in their team. A few quick wickets and the pressure would have been on India.

Aus are now back to a 15 man squad with Jaques, Johnson and Cosgrove leaving so they will be near full strength.
