Official Apology from AC13 officials

Its 'build'ing at the start and 'rebuild'ing can only have that one meaning which Biggs just gave. Now I ain't good at English, but these are pretty simple words. More than likely, the one who wrote that apology was much more poor at English than me and came up with that unclear statement. Now I'm not gonna go on to it again, guess I wrote all this up somewhere here in this thread.

They are trying to both carry through the relative success and positive image of the Ashes Cricket 2009 brand while at the same time saying that the broken things will be fixed. To put it another way, they are 'rebuilding' the Ashes Cricket series.

It's not quite as bad as the box for Ricky Ponting International Cricket having 'From the makers of Shane Warne Cricket' when the only thing in common was Codemasters as publisher - totally different dev teams and 6 years between them with nothing shared.

...well, they also had the whole "both cricket games" thing in common too.

In the end all of this will be forgotten if the game is good, I don't really care all that much about screenshots and trailers because its a game, not a film.

The end product could go either way, that's how little we know about it. Just like we should avoid praising BA Cricket as the saviour just yet we should avoid writing off AC13 just yet.

By the sounds of it the game is broken beyond belief at the moment; it takes a long time to retrieve such a game, Trickstar. ;)

What I want to know is if this is basically the same dev under a different name, why in God's name didn't you base the whole game on Ashes 09 PC Patch 2?? Why throw it all out and start from scratch??

In an effort to make a truly authentic cricket title and one which stood up to the benchmarks of current sports games, 505 Games and Trickstar Games decided to rebuild the technology behind Ashes Cricket 2013 from scratch. To ensure we delivered something that met our own expectations, we had to focus all resource on game development. As a result, creating assets such as screenshots or videos had to be put on hold so the team could completely focus on the development of the game. We understand that this hasn't been popular with the community to date.

Y'see, you really didn't need to do that!!

'From the makers of Shane Warne Cricket'

Ah yes - I remember that game well! Probably the first cricket game I spent that much time with - or maybe it was Graham Gooch's Cricket; can't remember which way round they were to be honest.

Because it wasn't theirs to throw out. Codemasters owned the code, etc - which was the whole reason they were able to pick up as Trickstar in the first place for IC2010, otherwise the series would have died with Transmission.

Back to square one. I would like for Chief to come out here and share his thoughts on the delay, not necessarily an apology.

Sad as it may sound, there may not be a Chief anymore. Two things are pretty clear from "The Apology"...

1. Chief/Jamie's role has been sidelined, diminished or terminated altogether.

2. They don't want to have anything to do with PC anymore and that's why they are talking about their FB page. I don't think a new Chief from 505 Games will show up at PC anytime soon.

If that's true, which seems highly possible with each passing day, its a terribly sad news. After all the feedback (negative as well, but hey that too helps you spot the mistakes right?) that PC members have given them, just leaving them out doesn't feel right, isn't it?

I don't think they're cutting PC out but it does seem to be the case that Chief is no longer involved with the project.

I asked 505 games whether Jamie Firth is still working on the project. To which their reply was,"We can not disclose any information like that."

Ballsy Question! :p Don't think anyone outside any company is entitled to know if a employee still works at the company.

I am just a little concerned about the 'rebuild' the developers are refer to. If it is just a desperate attempt to add extra features in response to Big Ant then I feel they are heading the wrong way.

However, they genuinely believe they can considerably improve gameplay then though the delay is still dissapointing, I would still be supportive of it.

BTw, Ashes 2009.. was pretty awful in my opinion. Online play was pathetic and playing multiplayer test matches was impossibles because there was not balance between bat and ball. I will not be buying the console version of either ashes or big ant till I have played them. I will buy both if they're any good though

Big Ant have made 505/Trickstar insecure about their game and what we are seeing right now is just a desperate attempt to bounce back.I think they may try to keep Ashes 13 release date far away from Cricket 14's release date as they stand no chance against their mighty competitor.

They could have always had the Q & A here at PC if that was the case. Better than answering about DRS and Licences over and over again at FB. :rolleyes

Or else, they got nothing new to disclose at the moment and are gonna do all that they did with PC now at FB, so as to fill something in, in this period of delay.

Well they are answering many questions on their Facebook page, so I guess they have improved and deserve a chance.
