New to this forum... pointed here by gougie after complaining to him about not being able to get a game completed. It was at point where the Top5 runs scorers in T20 (excluding gougie) wouldn't play me or I deemed as quitters.... and I told him as much. He referred me to this site.
Then I come here and see this...
I have created a ranked t20, please try to join, i keep kicking people till i see a name i recognize,
Made me giggle as it was around this day I finally put this game aside after completing 1 game in 2 days, and to then have Hmarka kicked me out of his game a few times, so I was fairly frustrated and disappointed (thinking even the 'top' players won't give me a game). AND I almost always bowling first, my usual experience is people quitting after their (obviously disappointing) innings.... so to date my main experience with this game is 95% bowling 5% batting ... and 5% sending msgs to people asking "Why Quit?".
What was the straw for me was that one guy that did finally finish after 2 days trying to get a full game, it just happened to be the first guy (and only) I've ever bowled out for 0.... so you can imagine I enjoyed my turn to bat (sigh). To date I've only had 3 decent turns batting I think, otherwise it's just chasing 50-60 runs and the guy quits as soon as they realise you aren't gonna get out playing lamo slogs etc.
Anyway hoping to get a few games now I've found this site, and seems to be a good bunch of guys on here who play in the right spirit (and a few palooka's I've seen post, but easily avoided)
Now as for topic, the only thing I feel I can do about quitters is this;
The way I see it, they are all either;
a) not wanting to spend the time to finish a match they know they will lose (mostly),
b) Stat boosters who only seem to want to record their big wins (e.g. one guy I played is in the total runs stats for 20/20 with 1300 runs in 5 matches (at the time)..... when the one he quit on me, I bowled him out for 50ish, he didn't even stick around to bowl a ball at me (and I've seen him mentioned in this forums a few times as a quitter too) :/
Not sure why people go so close to finishing then pull the plug. I mean there isn?t a win/loss stat to worry about (and prefer it that way or it would influence more to quit I?m sure - i.e. don't ever bring in a public win/loss stat... stats should be minimal)
Currently I message every person I play, if I?m gonna spend 30mins or more playing online against someone, it?s a small courtesy, however I?m getting sick of writing ?Why Quit?? or ?What Happened?? etc rather than ?Good Game
? msgs. Then the ones who don?t reply get added to my quitters list.
When playing online, I started making a list of players who quit or don't play in spirit of the game. There are alot of quitters, and I'm gonna avoid playing guys who waste my time.... that and you will prob see a lot of same names if you play a bit, so better to weed out the 'losers' before you start a match than to spend an hour bowling at someone just to have them pull the plug after their innings
At the moment I?m running a quitter list of 34, and a ?good guys? list of almost 10 (since I started recording, realistically would prob be double the quitters, maybe 2-3 more good guys - not a good ration)? I?ve even taken to recording the easy beats who completed, so if I run into them again I?ll pick a lower team and try to get a decent game. Not because I?m nice, I do strive to win, more because I?m worried about smashing the good guys who will play it out and driving them out of the online community ? i.e. selfish motivation in the end, I just want to play
Finally, forget any patches addressing gameplay imo ... waste of time, gameplay is great (yeah could do with some polish and small graphic bug fixes), but I would rather see any patch focus on the online experience which doesn't require extensive testing or raise balancing issues - e.g leave the edges and how they carry alone! ... they are slightly mistimed shots and usually don't deserve to be out imo.
So with that in mind here are my top list of priorities (suggestions) that would improve my overall satisfaction, address some of the quitters, and also where people do quit, still give the guy that played 'fair' some credit.
1/ Voice support or some ingame communication!!!!!! When you play an online game for an hour or more against one person, would be good to be able to say to the other guy "wait 1 sec while I go to bathroom/kitchen etc". I had one guy quit on me then say he thought I had left..... all I did was run to the toilet for a min in between innings, and he was gone when I got back :/ ?. And would save me some msgs after the game if I could say "good Game' just before it cut out too - just give ability to 'mute' the smacktalkers... or make all voice comm mute from time bowler starts his run up till the ball is dead again (ie. only chat during non-gameplay scenes)
2/ If a person quits, the other person still gets their stats (total wickets, total runs etc)... quitter gets nothing, (I hate the fact that my 5-6 wicket hauls in a lot of matches aren't being recorded because some lamo doesn't like being rolled) - to be honest, I'm a bit unsure of the exact detail, was also thinking maybe stats should apply 100% as it may stop quitters if they know that quitting won't change the fact the got bowled out for 20... but in summary, I'd like to keep my stats when people quit on me - how the finer details are implemented isn't really a concern
3/ Same rules should apply for connection drop-outs,
4/ A percentage played/finished figure next to their name or visible before you start the match,
5/ Change all 'Average/Strike-rate' stats to have a minimum 10 game (roughly) limit before they are calculated... all the stats for these areas are dominated by guys who have played one match, make it as many games as to deter quitters - ie. to get a decent 20 game average batting, would take alot of games to quit to find the good ones... make it too time consuming to 'glitch' the stats
6/ See who is hosting a match before you click on it,
7/ Where you encouter the "Could not Find" msg ingame (the one where no matter what you do you can't play a shot), the ball should be called 'dead' and rebowled. Ie. No runs, no wickets, no 'balls' recorded - real life similarity, lets pretend it was a streaker that caused it
8/ Some graphics/lag bugs?. Gameplay is fine!!!
9/ Be able to view some personal stats (not public to avoid people trying to 'glitch' them) - but to see your own total runs/wickets/strike rates/averages etc wouldn't be a bad thing. Keep the public ones to Top100, but let us all see how we compare personally

Apologies for long post, and my PSN = "E-N-I-G-M-A" if anyone wants to add me to play in future (though not much space left on friends list, so msg me if full)
