Sharjah Cup Australia vs Pakistan Live from Sharjah
Major Breakthrough by Pakistan (Australian Captain Goes)
The crowd were right behind the Pakistan team as they had been doing all this match. Shoaib in fantastic rhythm started his 6th over. It was possible that fatigue was setting in on Shoaib as his speed dropped dramatically from 92 to 86. Ponting seized this opportunity and smashed 3 fours off the over which moved him onto 19. Would this be the break the Australians needed?
Knowing Shoaib was tiring, Captain Misbah brought on his 3rd seamer Umar Gul. Gul has been in great form and has been a consistent bowler over the years. Gul marked his run-up and began steaming in. The ball was just short of a half-volley. The ball deviated towards Ponting once it hit the pitch but upon bouncing, the ball swung back in and hit the top of Leg-Stump.
Gul celebrated as he knew this was a big wicket and Ponting was just about to get settled in. Misbah ran over from Square-Leg and celebrated with the rest of the team.
B.Richards:Bowled him! What a beauty to get rid of Ponting. That is a key wicket for Pakistan. Ponting looks in astonishment at the pitch but unfortunately for him he has to go. So Ponting goes for a brisk 19 and Australia are now 49/3 in the 12th over.
This brought Mike Hussey to the crease. Usually known as "Mr Cricket" or "Mr.Dependable" Hussey will have to stick around for a while with Vice-Captain Michael Clarke as the pressure continues to mount on the Australians.
