Shoaib Malik was continuing to play very well. His idea was to rotate the strike to Misbah while he started to hit out. Misbah took 14 off one over hitting 3 boundaries. However, he soon departed as he attempted to smash Kyle Mills over his head.

In the situation it was a poor shot. Misbah on 27 off just 19 balls attempted to smash the ball down to Mid-Off. Vettori had placed him back as Misbah had been looking for this shot previously. This time Misbah did not find the boundary. He got to the pitch of the ball but mistimed the shot. Mills shouted "Catch!" Misbah was looking at the ball hoping it would sail over his head. However he did not get the elevation and Jesse Ryder took the catch very near the boundary.

Vettori immediately rushed over to Ryder as this was a crucial wicket. Misbah was furious with himself as he even knew that this was a poor shot in the situation.
R.Raja: In the air....it should be taken. It is. That is a poor shot from the captain Misbah-ul-Haq. A good wicket for the Kiwis. Misbah goes for a quick 27 and Pakistan are now 182/4.

This brought Shahid Afridi to the crease. A huge cheer erupted from the crowd as he strode out to the middle. At the other end, Vice-Captain Shoaib Malik had reached 96. The pressure could be easily shown on his face.

Scott Styris lost his line and bowled a short leg-stump short-ball. Malik glanced it away as Mason gave up the chase. Malik immediately took his helmet off and raised his bat. Even the Newzealands in the crowd were up from their seats and clapping. Vettori immediately rushed over to Malik and shook his hand.

With 13 overs to go, and BOOM BOOM Afridi at the crease, Pakistan will be looking to reach 300.

Hehe was my idea to go with a brief but effective innings from Misbah. Still going very strong. Malik will definitely get a huge score, he's settled in, he's got the players to back him up and he's got the overs.

27 off 19 was a decent quick knock which helped Pakistan get up their run rate. Malik now has his 100 and will be batting with Afridi, so the run rate will no doubt increase and heres hoping they get the runs and don't lose too many wickets.
