S.Manjrekar:Hello there and welcome to "The Twelth Man" where I am joined by Dean Jones and Ian Chappell. Today's game is the Sharjah Cup opener where Australia will take on Pakistan. We will be analyzing the teams before the match starts which will be in approximately 20 minutes time. Good afternoon gentleman. Firstly lets talk about the favourites to win the tournament, the Australians. D.Jones:Yeah, they have been in form home and away and will be a major threat to both New Zealand and Pakistan. Also this is the last ODIs they will have before the ICC Champions Trophy which will be on a Sub-continent pitch so its good practice. I.Chappell:But the major problem is that Matthew Hayden is still suffering an injury which he sustained during the IPL so I think Shaun Marsh will retain his place. D.Jones:Talking about Matty Hayden he played very well against the Indians in the late 2007 tour. He is a player who can take it to the opposition and once he gets going, it takes something drastic to send him back to the pavilion. The trick is to get him early. S.Manjrekar:What about Pakistan? They have continued their inconsistent form. I.Chappell:Well that's how the Pakistan Cricket team has been like that for a couple of years now but with the inclusions of Nazir, Razzaq and Shoaib their particularly weak side has been strengthened. S.Manjrekar:Lets just talk about Mohammad Asif. What ever happened to him? D.Jones:Well that's what happens when you break the Code of Conduct. I can remember when he first came onto the scene he had Sachin Tendulkar beaten 4 times in one over. Now trust me that is something which is difficult to do. He got Kevin Pietersen out on numerous occasions in their 2006 tour so yes he did have the talent but unfortunately he is going to have an early finish to his career. S.Manjrekar:Right well Barry Richards is down there with the Pitch Report.
Pitch Report
B.Richards:Thanks Sanjay well I must say it is a great day to be playing cricket. It's hot and humid with the temperature being at 30 degrees centigrade. The stadium is packed with fans from Australia and Pakistan who are ready to see play. Looking at the pitch well it has got some cracks towards the front near the batsman's off-stump. Thats where Afridi and Symonds should be aiming for some turn. The pitch is hard to say the least and is a batting wicket. Overall if I won the toss I would definatly bat first.
S.Manjrekar:Thanks for the Pitch Report Barry, well the news from the center is that Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has won the toss and is going to be batting first. Here are the two line-ups for today's team.
Australia
Pakistan
S.Manjrekar:Finally, who do you think is the danger-man for Australia Ian? I.Chappell:Well for the Australians it has to be Shaun Marsh as he has been in fantastic form as of late. S.Manjrekar:And Pakistan Deano? D.Jones: Definatly got to be Sohail Tanvir as he bowled fantastically during the IPL and his unorthodox bowling action will be a major threat to the Australian batsmen. S.Manjrekar:Gentleman, thanks for your time. So that concludes The Twelth Man, join us after the break where we will have the first ball ready to air live.
Both sides look good, not seen much of Shaun Marsh, well not at all really. Australia bat deep and if Watson really gets going I can see Australia running away with it...
Yippe :happy Sharjah Cup is back, but without India it will be not so enjoying to watch . Sharjah's tradition is Pakistan and India All the best to Aussie :happy .Nice story and great presentation
