This is where I'll stop supporting PCB. They should still play the Twenty20 and the ODIs even if Inzamam gets a ban. There are other ways to show Inzi their support.

I'm glad that South Africa have done what they have; It means that if the PCB pull out they won't leave as big a mark as they thought they would.

I wouldn't mind playing South Africa because we hammered than last time at home in ODI's :D.

best way to get Pakistan to play..

Tell them if them pull out of this series they are banned from the word cup..

simple really...no way they'd pull out then

If they pulled out of the World Cup, it would be an even bigger protest. Think of all the Pakistani supporters who wouldn't come over for the tournament, in places like USA where Pakistanis wouldn't buy the PPV showings of the matches. Everyone will lose out financially, even if Pakistan are replaced in the WC by some minnow team.

That would be stupid. What if Pakistan end up getting banned from the World Cup? The loss of revenue is one thing, it could affect the World Cup on the whole. How do you know other nations won't protest over such a thing? The issue has become bad enough as it is.

BTW, will there be a vBookie event on the Twenty20?

well something needs to be done to make them play. Maybe the PCB are gonna foot the bill for lost revenue in the UK is they pull out of the ODI series over here?

Should be a serious deterent, whether it be financial or bans to make refusing to play not worth while.

To be honest the whole thing is getting so out of hand that i am tempted to say "stuff them" . Let them go home and sulk, then we can play against someone who actually wants to play cricket.

Let's face it Edward, if Inzamam gets banned, it's a disgrace. They have every right to sulk and go home in protest, but I'd prefer they didn't because I want to see England get destroyed. :D

I think pakistan are doing the right thing, I think their innocent... Inzi was unhappy about the 5 run penatly so he did the right thing for the fans and played onto tea and he told the umpires how unhappy he was about it, and then when he didnt come out they acted like they didnt know it was coming.. IF they did ball tamper where is the proof? theres plenty of cameras that would catch it, surely punish the indivual and not get into the mess their in now where pakistan might pull out of the ODI series...

Pakistan shouldn't have protested like that though langerrox as they didn't go with the correct channels.

Anyway, just incase some of you thinking that the ECB getting contingency plans is unfair pressure on Pakistan.

This morning on BBC Breakfast they said the ECB could lose up to ?10 Million if the series didn't go ahead!

Pakistan have forced the ECB to set up contingency plans by the threat of pulling out. Surely they can see the damage it'd do to the relations and the bank account of ECB if they pull out. ECB has to even set up contingency plans or lose a heck of a lot of money.

if he gets banned for ball tampering without evidence, i would agree that would be a disgrace.

But for bringing the game into disrepute..well he can't deny it cos they already admitted that they deliberately were'nt taking to the field.

According to cricinfo the west Indies will step in.. I actually think we can beat them..

I'd heard that if Pakistan pull out they maybe forced to pay up to 7 million .

Apologies if someone has mentioned this, but the Beeb are reporting that the West Indies will fill in, rather than South Africa.

Also, if Inzi is banned from ODI's and the team boycotts them, that would affect the Champions Trophy which is bad business for the ICC, mind you, they don't seem to care about what is good for the game.

are they going to get disrepute charges for every series they pull out of?

cos thats going to be a lengthy ban...

I'd much prefer it if the ECB did their neighbours a favour (and give the England team a boost) by inviting Ireland, Scotland or the Netherlands to play.

i quite like that idea, however not sure how beneficial it would for England to play that level of opposition.

It would be hard to assess new players performances without putting them into context.
