I just remembered, minds going I think.

I'm not sure how he will fare, he'd bowl well and be a decent all-rounder I think. Good luck to him, if he gets a game.

Lol! How could you forget who Clarke is when you support Surrey? A die hard fan then yea?

Rikki Clarke - what a joke!
I hope Neil and the boys on Clarke-watch at CW are having a good laugh over this. Maybe he can give England some ball tampering tips from his experience with Surrey...

Another one who would do better for England than Clarke who I forgot is Mark Ealham.

I have to say , if we made a list of players who could do better for Eng than clarke..

..well lets say it would be a b!oody long list..

I think the criticism of Clarke is a bit much to be honest. He's one of those who was thrust into the team at a young age and was expected to perform miracles. I think we'll see a more mature Rikki Clarke when he returns. I can't see them needing him to bowl ten overs either to be honest, it'll be 20 from him, Dalrymple and Collingwood in my opinion.

Now i'm aware that you might have said that tongue-in-cheek, but I actually would have Ealham instead Clarke.

Does Dougie Brown qualify to play for England anymore? Or is he a full time Scot now? I'd have him as well.

Due to the ICCs rather bizarre eligibility requirements, he still is eligible for England. I think he's comitted to Scotland internationally now though.

Not Tongue In Cheek, he's a very straight and economical bowler.

If you lot were in charge of picking the team, we'd have Atherton and Gooch opening the batting, with Malcolm and Defreitas opening the bowling.

If I was in charge of the team then it would consist of every English Lancashire player and Geraint Jones. ;)

And Sureshot, I agree with you on the Ealham thing. I'd much rather have him in my side than the useless Clarke.

Stuart Law?

I'd just pick the test team plus some young players who need international experience.

Not really, only been to one game (despite the Oval being a 25 min train ride away) and only liked Cricket for a year so thier names aren't drilled into my brain yet. Stewey Walters (of Surrey) played for my club last season, and still comes down regulary. :D Just thought I'd say (this being the club that also spawned Alec Stewart).

I think it's a step back myself, we need to get more young players who are ODI standard. Who is Clark - I recognise the name, but not enough to know the player.

At least they gain experiance rather than relying on Gough because our young bowlers can't bowl straight and are happy to let our batsmens good work go to waste. Perhaps this time the players will perform better. Continunity is what the team needs though, but injuries have forced us to 'blood' several new players at a time, meaning they don't play as a team.

If the players only care about Tests, make sure the new ones know that good ODi performances will lead to Test chances, and get the Test players to start caring about how the ODI team performs. In my opinion, the ODI batting is generally decent, but the bowling does not back up the batting.
