The important thing is to make sure we actually hit a good first innings score. The Pakistan bowlers have bowled well enough for our lower order to collapse tomorrow. There isn't a lot of batting after Bell and Jones (or after Bell!).

Yeah, Colly and Cook need to take us beyond 400 so that our collapse won't look that bad; if we don't reach 400 from here then all today's good work is ruined. Hopefully GoJo can do something tomorrow, and a quick 50 from Monty wouldn't hurt either! :p

England are high favs here..their bowling is way stronger than Pakistan's..
Only Inzi and Yousaf is what they really have to worry about, rest will give their wickets away.

Wow, your'e pretty pessimistic aren't you? Pakistan bat a long way down and we all know how shocking England are when it comes to dismissing the tail.

Chaminda Vaas averaged 90 for Sri Lanka in the recent test series

Absolutely rubbish fielding today. Bowling was as good as I expected it to be, but the fielding was horrible. If it weren't for the dropped catches we would've been in a much better position. We need to break this partnership first thing in the morning.

Agreed. Cook was dropped on 0, 45 and 81; that is just inexcusable.

Kamran Akmal's drop was an abssolute dolly. Should of been taken, Jones probably could of taken that quite comfortably :D Still credit to Cook and Collingwood, they have got to make them pay even more for the number of dropped catches. Excellent innings by Collingwood, thoroughly great to watch. This is a good opportunity for Jones to stake his claims. I feel he should be ahead of Bell just to give him an opportunity to impress the selectors.

Shows what dropped catches can do to the team mentally and the same happened to SA against Aus who dropped a number of simple catches against Aus.

Well for most of the Pakistani batsman its like first time in english conditions..
players like farhat and butt will struggle against Hoggard, Faisal Iqbal and Kamran Akmal also playing for the first time in English conditions..
its really on Inzi, Yousuf, and a little bit Razzaq
and you cant trust Afridi to deliver..

England have 2 very good frontline bowlers in Hoggard and Harmison, backed up by Monty, so they are pretty strong right now.

Vaas has always done pretty good in lower order....only tailender England might have trouble against is Sami, who can bat a bit.

Fielding wasn't good enough. Really thats what has cost them. Some of the catches were very basic. Infact all of them were. :p

Good umpiring overall. There were some tough decisions to be made.

England are revived from this partnership. Good batting.

->Bad decision from Taufel. That edge was obvious.

Plunkett has been a mixed bag, I think he's good enough, and if we have a batsman at the other of when Hoggy is batting who knows.

There is a bit of a wind out there, so that might have made it harder for him to hear it, unlucky Pakistan.

65 runs in the first hour is good going, particularly with the new ball.

Afridi came vey close with an LBW, I think just enough doubt as to whether it would hit the stumps, hawkeye said clipping leg.

How's Bell been playing? Hopefully he can establish himself further here and go on with it as England look to push on in the driving seat, but it's not always the easiest scenario from which to score runs, despite so many thinking of it as the perfect opportunity. He's under considerable pressure here in light of the triumphs of Collingwood and Cook...
England travelling at a quality rate at present, and Collingwood's cruised past his previous highest test score- any Pakistani bowler looking consistently threatening at the moment?

Wow. 120 overs bowled in 4 sessions. Give that team a medal! :)

426/4 at lunch - Well played but we still need to make sure we convert this into a really good score. I suspect our problem will be in bowling out Pakistan twice.

Wow,I actually expected a collapse yesterday when the lost those 3 wickets pretty quickly, but theyve done really well since then.Looks like the game can only have one winner now but you never know.Pakistan however seems to be missing their regular pacers and Kaneria doesnt seem very effective atm.

Collingwood will be looking for a double hundred now.
Pakistan have looked flat and beaten but as Colin has said it will be a task for England to bowl out Pakistan twice.

I dont think England will have that many problems with bowling..you guys have 2 of ur main frontline bowlers in hoggard and harmison..

You can't win a test match with two bowlers though. Pakistan's batting line-up is hardly poor.
