Kaneria, currently the worst spinner on earth!

It is strange isn't it once a team is on the losing side, they primarily blame the one person. No Kaneria is not the worst spinner in the world and his record speaks for itself. I'd say if Kaneria rips through the England second innings you would have differing opinions. Remember Headingley is not a ground where spinners have much success, take a look at Warne's record at Headingley, only 3 wickets in 3 matches.

But Sami on the overhand is pathetic. Don't see why he is still in the team. He has to be the most overrated bowler in history and just can't adapt to the international arena. Surely there has to be better substitues for Sami.

Ian Bell once again looks very steady and a very fine knock so far. Hope he can continue and accumulate a century. He surely has to be in the team in 3 months time.

Not at all, it's the way you went about that was problem.

Anyway, if Pakistan are to have any hope in this match, they'll need to bowl a lot better tomorrow morning and in the second innings than they have today. As unlucky as they were, you are asking for trouble when you bowl consistantly short and wide to players like Strauss, Trescothick, Bell and Pietersen, you're going to go for runs!
Pakistan bowlers have made that mistake one too many times. They have a tendency to bowl short to English and Aussies, trying to intimidate them.

It backfires because English and Aussie batsmen are used to pace and bounce. Also, apart from Shoaib, the Pakistan bowlers aren't built to generate the kind of pace and bounce that would intimidate batsmen.

and what about the great Billy Doctrove...who apparently robbed Pakistan of their first ever test series win in westindies in 2000/01...

these 2 are the worst umpires for Pakistan...and what sucks is that they will be in next match too.

Pakistan are in real trouble. we will lose this test series for sure now. even akhtar cant help us now.

Akthar will be the one that willl help us at The Oval along with Asif.

Pakistan has to make sure they draw this match, or somehow win it, but we have to make sure we dont lose, if we lose...we might just let akhtar and asif miss the last test too.

no he's not. He's been unlucky, if umpires keep denying him and fielders keep dropping catches, then how is it his fault

He's playing for Surrey, isn't he?

Yeah he is. I haven't been following county cricket too much this season but I was sure I heard one of the commentators say he was playing for Yorkshire.

WRT Kaneria, he proved on the England tour to Pakistan that he is a very good player and it's just unfortunate that the circumstances haven't been too favourable for him to bowl in yet. Match situation is very important for a spinner and Pakistan have constantly been chasing the game.

Great first hour for England. Bell has proved a real thorn - still yet to be dismissed in this series by a Pakistan bowler.

Eh? What are you talking about mate? It must be because i'm young.

A little bit off topic to say this but, I want Prior instead of Read! Well played today though Chris.

I mean Andrew should be called Mr Cricket.

Back to back sixes by Harmison \o/ (That's supposed to be both arms in the air btw).

Pakistan don't look like they really care.

----------

488-8 at lunch.

Saj and Harmy clobbering their bowlers. Harmy up to 30 already.

Let's not start this again.

Anyone expecting a declaration at lunch or will they keep pushing on?
Poor Hoggy btw. Everyone else has scored at least 20! :p

Colin you could keep my bit about Saj :p

I had only just got to your post about deleting it if anyone posted about KP, hair etc so Sorry about that.

If Saj pitches it up he could bowl well.

Yep i would have prior in, but the trouble is Priors keeping isn't as great according to most people. Read will probably be englands keeper for the next 2/3 years if he can score hundreds, but that still gives Prior alot of time with his keeping.

I disagree, numerous times he's played as a batsman alone but we play him as keeper aswell because he is good enough.

And it didn't bother the selectors for 2 years with jones did it?

Ian Bell is in terrific form at the moment.

Kaneria was so delighted to get that wicket!

Great innings by Belly, and yet again KP proves that he always has a period where he gets carried away. Can't detract from a great innings. Harmy and Mahmood are our new all-rounders too!:p

70-2 after tea.

Good work by KP to dismiss Butt with a direct hit.

Hoggard got Umar with a good catch behind by Read, who has looked so much moe comfortable than Jones imo.

With the bat yes, but how on earth can you say that he looks more comfortable with the gloves after one session? Especially with the quality of keeping GoJo has produced in this series.

I don't want to start a fresh keeper debate though, and I think Read or Prior should be in there.
