its true promoting Laxman to no.3 where he has scored most of his runs mite just help india in the future. Even in ODI's he scored his centuries when he was batting at NO.3
So i guess promoting laxman up the order will do some good for india.
You have the best No. 3 batsman in the world... you want to disrupt that?? If its a choice between Dravid and Laxman at 3, there shouldnt even be a discussion.

of course there..should be such a discussion. he has done will in the no.3, yes, rahul is by far the best batsman at no.3 now. Its just matter of extracting that talent, why not send ganguly 4 down and laxman take his place in the batting line-up? Its just one knock that can do a world of good and both laxman and ganguly are desperate about that.

If Laxman can be given a chance, it is at No.3 or No.4. But both places are occupied by the best players in the world - Dravid and Tendulkar. May be if many are keen to have VVS in the team, may be he can move up one position and Ganguly can come down the order.

I would never drop Ganguly. He still retains his place due to his captaincy. His captaincy is unimaginative only in scarce amount. Otherwise, still he is a good and reliable captain! Also now no one can fill Ganguly's place as the captain of the side.

lot has been said on the (yet another) buckner episode and not surprised to see the support for him either. after all many of the supporter's teams have benefited by him getting top indian batsmen out so many times. for them buckner is gods gift (and the best umpire) as he can do what their bowlers can't :)

Kaif would be a good Captain if you think about it. hes cool minded unlike Ganguly :D and is good in the field and he talks to other people and overall hes a good batsman. :D

Are u joking?? He is still too young. And he cant handle the seniors in the team now!!

Until Dravid, Sachin or Saurav leave, Kaif or anyone else cant dream of captaining! We cant do a Graeme Smith!

it has nothing to do with age. he captained india u-19, a very good sportsman. he wants to be the best, and he has what it takes to be a captain. I think he should be made the vice-captain of the ODI team, so he can learn from ganguly. That very position will put u underpressure, and will make you think.

I think Laxman is a good batsman. The Aussies reckon him as India's best.
Then the Aussies's are dumber than I thought. He can come up with one or two phenomenal innings but I think talent-wise many in the Indian batting line-up overshadow him.

If India promote Laxman to no. 3 I'll stop watching cricket. The number 3 position is a very important position, especially mentally. There are a myriad of situations you can come in under, old-ball, new-ball, advantageous, not advantageous. You need to possess ALL the skills. Dravid is perfect. Laxman would not last even one match in that position.

As for Bucknor, he has been consistently incorrect against oppositions against India. If you could for a moment stop pinning this situation on Indian bias you would realise that. There are at least 5-6 umpires on the circuit who are better than Bucknor in form and skill. As for Asoka de Silva, he used to be a good umpire and then entered a bad patch of about 2-3 years. And only then did the ICC revoke his status. That is poor management. And finally, on Bucknor, some of his decisions are so atrocious (forget about who's playing) that you wonder if he has frequent lapses of concentration.

Not with age, but with Sachin, Dravid, Saurav and Kumble around in the team, it's not possible for a youngster to captain them. Even for vice captaincy, its not possible. Kaif has this gentle image and cant take up any job of leadership until some of the seniors quit! Wanting to make is different from the real making. I would in fact want him to be the captain of the team, but its not possible!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING POST!! some reps to you for sure!!!

Ganguly out going for a (stupid) pull shot. He doesn't have form or patience, currently. Sami worked him out so easily...kept bowling bouncers and our hot-blooded captain decided to go for the pull shot--a shot which he can't even pull off (pun unintended) when facing medium pacers let alone Sami.

India in a decent position atm
Karthik supporting dravid well
I hope that India do well especially to show the world that we are not a team which always blames the umpires whenever they play .
Just take the decision sportingly guys!!!
India are a team on the brink of achieving the No.2 spot in the ICC Test table and we can win matches even if Mr.Bucknor conspires against us (not suggesting that he did conspire)
I would not crucify Mr.Bucknor just for the decision but as far as the light was concerned it looked bad even on TV . The umpires even did not look at the light meter

Laxman should stay in the team . C`mon guys , a player who can perform against the world champions under a 274 run deficit pressure must be persisted with
I do`nt think he has been that bad either . He just scored a 58 at mohali with the tail
If u suggest that he failed vs AUS in 2004 home series , so did the whole team except sehwag to an extent . The fact that he is rated highly by the aussies speaks volumes of his ability . I even read somewhere that Gilchrist said that the aussies would be happy to have laxman in the side . I would give an example of Martyn , he failed to make huge scores for quite a long time but the aussies persisted with him and now we know why !! Every time the Indian batting fails , Laxman is the man who is made scapegoat
HE has a knack of scoring under pressure . Remember the innings he played at rawalpindi after failing to score in the whole test series or the hundreds agains AUS at adelaide, kolkata and Sydney
He might come up with similar performances anytime . He is a matchwinner

Oops!!! Laxman retired hurt. But no problem. Karthik batting well on 24*.

India moving along very well. Its 201/4 and the lead is building well. 300+ and India are int he driver's seat!

At Lunch: India are 215/4, 229 runs ahead. D.Karthick is not out on 31 and R.Dravid is not out on 89*. India has the edge now. They should get past the 300 lead. Laxman can still come back.

2nd century of the match for Dravid :hpraise

Brilliant innings by Dravid and also by Dinesh Kaarthick under pressure!

India must declare with a lead of 350+ and let Pakistan in at least for 7 - 8 overs before stumps on Day 4. I dont think going for a lead of 400 would do good. It might prompt the Pakistanis to play out for another draw!

As I say this, Dinesh Kaarthick is on aggression mode! He is hitting out!

I think India will declare by lunch. Great innings' from Karthik (62*) and Dravid (114*) has really put India on top in this match. If India gets a lead of about 320-330 by tea, they will declare and put the carrot in front of the Pakistani batsmen. Such a score can go either way, although one would expect the Indians to manage to win. However a blitz from Afridi and a tempered innings from Inzamam could put the game the Pakistani's way.
