afridi is a devastating batsman. But definitely not in the league of gilchrist and sehwag.

duhh..! batsmen like sehwag and gilchrist come out to bat with intentions of scoring massive totals personally and smashing bowlers all over the park whilst doing so. shahid afridi is very very different. sure, every batsmen loves making a huge score but for afridi i think that he enjoys watching the ball sail over the fence and into the crowd gives him equal or even more pleasure then scoring a ton or two...

thats the spirit afridi!
remember one thing, any player with such personal feelings have never done well. playing for the team's sake is the ultimate thing. Since when did gilchrist and sehwag score runs personally? lol!
you are trying to say that scoring 20 odd runs in 10 balls is better than scoring 100 in 90 balls? if scoring 2 sixes gives afridi the so called "pleasure", then sure let him continue enjoying that.

Just consider the latest test Aussies are playing, Fleming in I innings was out for a duck, he didn't play Warne at all. Warne got McMillan,McCullum and Vettori, ending up at 69-3, average being 23.

Also, pitches in India are generally batting friendly than being spinner friendly and it is no way easy for even spinners to take wickets. The only way to take wickets is by bowling long spells. Not just Warne, all non-Asian spinners found it hard to pick wickets.

So Asian spinners can't really have extremely good strike rates and averages. As far as Murali is concerned, he actually is bowlers' Bradman, the best bowler ever born.

No spinner is comparable to Muralitharan, not even Warne, no matter even if you consider their entire careers.

If we multiply the ranks of two best spinners we get the rank of the third best. Murali(the best spinner) is at 2, Kumble(2nd best) is at 4, Warne(3rd best) is at 4*2=8.

I don't care at all where you rank these spinners, your prejudice has a big role there. There is no respectable ranking system which currently ranks Warney higher than Jumbo.

never realized that ajit!
true, we all have prejudice towards others. Its hard to give a neutral ranking.

Anyway, hopefully this bangalore test will be as exciting as the last two. may in imzi's 100th test, sachin will score a 100.

This article, which talks about Harbhajan being pulled up for 'chucking', has brought up many of the concerns I have with the current chucking law.

"Moreover, the new rules sat that the arm must not straighten more than 15 degrees. It's a technical stipulation, and I am baffled that the umpires and the referee were able to make this rather difficult calculation using the naked eye. Finally, the contention that my doosra was clean in the first innings but illegal in the second is really strange."

Exactly. But the ICC says that 15 degrees is clearly observable to the eye (and definately differentiable from 14.5 and 15.5 degrees) so they must know best. Let's hope this is settled before Bangalore.

I was just checking the schedule for india-pakistan ODI matches to follow the Test series and saw that there are 6 ODI games. Why does BCCI keep even number of ODI games everytime?? Don't they know simple arithmentic that two teams can finish at level after playing even number of games?? What kind of stupid scheduling is this?? Either make it a 5 match or 7 match ODI series, playing 4 or 6 matches is sheer stupidity. No wonder people feel the matches are fixed as most of times the teams finish level in 4 or 6 match series.

lol, thats one of the funniest comments i've seen. Since ahmedabad test was changed, they wanted an ODI, atleast. So from 5, it became six. Are you from the anti-corruption council or whatever?

As the series is friendship makining series,BCCI wants both teams to win. :p

In 2nd test, Younis Khan became the first ever batsman to get a hundred in the first innings and be dismissed for a duck in the 2nd, in an Indo-Pak match.

btw, I hope India don't get complacent in the next test. Pak has a history of comebacks. They won Lahore test after losing the Multan one by an innings, and they squared a series against SRL 1-1.

Also, India has many times followed victory by defeat. In Zimbabwe, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan, India lost the very next test to the one they won.

To be frank, currently India has one of the best batting line-ups in the history of sub continent cricket. Simply amazing and its encouraging and I am hopeful other asian teams can replicate this especially Pakistan and can go on and challenge the likes of Australia.

Kamran Akmal got a 100 in the 2nd innings of the first test & was out for duck in the first innings of the next match.

Pakistan will be really working hard to force a win.

If they win the toss & elect to bat ,one can see Afridi setting the ground on fire ,then Asim Kamal steadying the innings and pakistan can easily reach 600+.

Indian bowlers have to work hard.Especially Pathan ,he was not quiet not himself in the last match.I think he picked up only 1 or 2 wickets.

Will Laxman play the 3rd test? He's injured and Kaif's readily waiting for the place.

I hope Laxman doesnt play and Kaif plays.. Let Laxman's injury not heal soon

i thought the vast majority of indians loved v.v.s... or are you just a part of that small minority? ive always felt that he is himself, like the player of his potential when he plays australia, and everyone else then hes just in bad form or something. he tends to lift his game up playing the aussies

Yes that's true.he has had most of his best performances against Australia.

But currently he is not in top form.
I too prefer kaif.

Batting first on a wicket claimed to be devoid of grass is going to be the key to Bangalore Test match. If a team can post a total 500+ then the team batting second will have to play really well and even if they do that won't gurantee a win. Thus toss will be really important.

With Ganguly as the captain, India hasn't won a Test match at Bangalore. Also Ganguly has not won the toss at Bangalore (0-2) too.
