Pakistan pulling of a victory today seems unlikely. However, yesterday 350+ runs were scored. And 93 of them were scored by D. Karthik. I am not judging Karthik here but if he can score 93 on fourth day then Inzi, Youhana and Younis khan along with Kamal, Umar, Razzaq should be able to save the test match. Also you never know if Inzi decides to go berserk the target can start looking smaller than it would be. I think the wicket is still good for batting and India will have to really bowl their hearts and brains out to bowl Pakistan out tomorrow. May be Bucknor can help India for a change :) (just joking)

You are insulting Karthick by those words. He is a highly talented batsman who has not displayed his talents in the international level. Yesterday, he did it. It doesnt mean Inzy, Youhana or Younis would save it.

Now its 170/4. India quickly needs some wickets now or else, this match would be a draw. Now, a Pakistani victory is looking out of sight!!

Hey Fardin, 4 wickets down... is Pakistan going to save the match??

If they do not lose another wicket by Tea, they might save this match!!

Karthik has got back-to-back centuries in the Ranji Trophy, in the semi-finals and finals of the tournament. Might not be the best competition around but these ARE the best domestic players in the country, so they are relatively strong. As for India's performance, they just need one wicket to win it now. Kumble has bowled beautifully in the second innings, with 7 wickets. India are sure to win now, unless the skies open up and it rains.

This match was great because it lasted the 5 days and both teams had to try hard (except for the wickets today). Although Dravid and Karthik did well on Day 4, they still had to steady the ship with Ganguly out early and Laxman getting injured. Pakistan kept coming, although they could have been more creative, but in the end India prevailed. Or will, prevail. Hopefully.

Very good performance by the Indians :clap and like to congratulate the Indian fans on the forum for the Test win. :cheers I hope we can bounce back and level the series. :upray

again good optimism Rangeela...

nice fight by the Pakistani batsmen...esp Kamal...I liked the fella right there in Rawalpindi where he withstood that injury to fight it out...that's called guts...but a man who's taken 60 wickets in last 10 tests is a bit too hard to handle...

great bowling jumbo...superb batting from the Wall...nice cut-short contributions from the great Sachin...and I must say nice captaincy by Ganguly... bottom line - a nice fat points packet in my userCP... :p

keep it up INDIA!!!! Congrats to all!

Yes Kumble is the man for India. I never considered him to be an exceptional spinner, but I guess he has proved me wrong yet again. If only he could be effective overseas, one could compare him with Warne and Murali.

Also, hats off to Rahul Dravid, who according to me is the toughest batsman to dismiss at the moment, alongside maybe Jacques Kallis and Andrew Strauss. He might not have the same appeal and popularity as Sachin or Lara, but his consistency in both forms of the game is second to none.

Looking forward to the third test. I heard if India manage even a draw in that, they will take 2nd spot in the ICC Test Rankings. That will be some achievement for India, even though they might not be able to hold on to it for very long. (A 1-0 win for England against Bangladesh in May will put them back in 2nd place)

Yay :happy !!
Go Kumble!!
Sadly, I was in school and missed it....but I am not missing the highlights! :D

Just take out Anil Kumble from this test and you will see that Indian bowling is same as Pakistan. I never said Karthik was bad batsmen, I just said that if Karthik can bat so can the Pak batsmen (Please don't tell me that you feel Karthik is better batsman than Younis Khan, Inzi, or Youhana) unless Indian bowlers bowl their hearts out. Turned out only Kumble bowling his heart out was good enough for Indian win. When Sami was really firing in on 4th morning there was no other Pak bowler helping from the other end to sustain the pressure. Pakistan's worry in this tour has been bowling apart from Inzi getting starts and not converting them into big ones (although the same holds true for Mr. Tendulkar too).

Amazing win for India. Hats off to the ever great Kumble. He has been totally awesome!!

I hope India wins the next one too and moves up 2nd in the ICC table!

excellent win for India, Kumble bowled magnifecently although i feel this must be said. Pakistan did not play to their potential. India came out right from the start giving everything they had, Pakistan did too, but towards the halfway mark of Indias second innings, you could sense that Pakistan were throwing the game away. A player like younis khan for example. his potential was shown in the 1st innings with his knock. it was brilliant, yet in the 2nd innings he scored a duck. no consistincy, and it isnt just him, its the unfourtunate scenario for the whole team. consistincy is constantly lagging, kamran akmal, abdul razzaq - quality players but only at times... i cannot wait for the one dayers to start, if they are anything like how the ODI's in pakistan were, people should be excited. i think pakistan are one of the most unpredictable teams in world cricket. good and bad i suppose.
Also Harbajan Singh's performance should be mentioned along with Kumble's. he picked up only 4 wickets for the match but i think he bowled brilliantly, particularly in the 2nd innings and was a good followup for kumble.
nevertheless, this was a good match, inshAllah some improvement from the Pakistanis in the the next one, looking forward to it.

India's upward movement

I agree.. Pakistan needs to improve their consistency to move up to the top in international cricket!

Pakistan have a better chance of a series win in the ODI's because its a matter of a day and days put together! If Pakistan can have 3 good days, they do not lose the cup! One more good day and they get the cup!

I bet on India again to win the third test and the series! Now, they should ideally up their aggression and try to force wins!! The bowling and batting is falling into place for us now. If our fielding improves, we have a very good team! I say this because we had a poor season leading up to this series where we lose many games including the home series to the Aussies. Now, I feel we are getting back into our groove and I hope we keep improving!

i think Kumble is easily the second best leggie now and perhaps of all time...not in terms of wickets but in terms of winning matches for his team... i think we Indians(me included) always tend to underplay the greatness of the man... Jumbo should be reverred really as well as Dravid and Sachin... i loved the fire in his eyes yesterday... it really seems that this man is capable of playing for India for 3-4 years more... test cricket at least...

the only man who could have saved the match yesterday for Pakistan was their captain and he couldn't fire...for the rest it was only a matter of time...
