Pakistan tour of Australia (Dec 2016 - Jan 2017)

I can't believe Sharjeel Khan has a test cap. He is outright awful. All this hype about Handscomb as well! Let him come to India. He will be made to look stupid.

Ashwin doesn't have a great record in Aus! does that mean he is a poor player ??

A question was floating in my mind throughout this series.

Q. Why people call Nathon Lyon, Gary? :p

As always a 100+ innings in the last match of the series. Though he played well in this match, deserved 100 :)

But I still think whether he reaches 10,000 runs milestone or not, he should retire.

Another great century by Younis Khan. This is yet another shut call for critics that he can only score in sub-continent tracks. His record is speaking for himself and that is enough. Remarkable performance! One of the last veterans from the golden era of Cricket Younis Khan! Test Hunderds in 11 different countries, The first player to do that.

Also what i more like about YK is his calmness even after reaching milestones he doesn't show up like many others jumping, dancing and celebrating these days, Over-rating their hundreds, He just performs and stand still like greats and he has earned it

Well played Younis Khan, but its for him to retire no better way to sign off from the game with a century.

I don't think so that retirement is knocking at Younis door that hard relative to Misbah. Younis has still time left to strengthen the players like Shafiq, Azhar and Babar Azam, An experienced performer playing with you gives you a lot more confidence and Younis is here to stay Insha'ALLAH till West Indies tour atleast. He should have a go at 10 thousand runs and give as much to Younger players as he can before he calls off. I don't buy the thing that both veterans should retire simultaneously.

This is 100% opposite in my case. I believe YK should retire and Misbah should not.

This is true. Otherwise Pakistan might well go the SL way. Look at the way they are struggling at the moment.

Yes, he is. Plus he has a very big mouth. At least Handscomb is an OK chap. World class cricketers are those that perform in all conditions all around the globe. Like, Steve Smith. Ashwin is a proper one trick pony at the moment and while Handscomb hasn't travelled, his technique suggests he will be a sitting duck in India.

Hmm I like your opinion :) but Handscomb played against IND A in India :) and he did a good job :)

Thanks mate! I'd like to reserve judgement till I see him play the alpha side under maximum stress. From what I've seen of his technique, he's a disaster waiting to happen in India and England!

I was one of them. I think he's had a remarkable career and he's made runs everywhere. Doff my hat off to him and have no shame in admitting that he's a legend and that I was wrong about him.

I don't agree about your point on celebrations. Every individual is different. Some are expressive and like to switch off for 2-3 minutes before getting their brain back in gear, while some like to just keep it all within themselves and only reflect once it's all done and dusted. You just look at Warner and Kohli for example- They exult on numerous occasions after a ton but it doesn't make their contribution any lesser. If anything, it adds to the spectacle and lets a more human and passionate side come through!

Why are you guys after his life to retire? Just for the heck of it? I would understand if you had 6-7 young batsman absolutely ready to play test cricket and deliver but your youngest prodigy is clearly struggling and it's understandable. You can't just ask someone to retire because he's x years old. You have to look at the circumstances and see whether you're ultimately benefitting the team long term. At the moment, Pakistan's batting is brittle, I see no worthwhile replacements for Younis Khan and if you push him into retirement you not only suffer short term losses but also deprive a guy like Azam dressing room time with him. He could learn so much by just talking to him or watching him bat..

Age is only a number and unlike limited overs cricket where there is a culmination in World Cups, test cricket is a series by series format and age and long term planning is less of a factor. You simply pick your best possible team every series!

I can agree with you on that but I don't like players doing acts to grab some extra attention at the hay moments and on media. You can remember Tendulkar's grace while reaching milestones, he was most graceful and humbled man in cricket while reaching milestones alongside Imran Khan, Inzamam was also one of them, Lara as well, You name the Greats! In other sports, You can see the legend Roger Federer.. Personalities are different but Greats are usually humble. I think Kohli will realize it soon in some time to come, so is Azhar Ali. Can't be sure about Warner...
