Pakistan tour of Australia (Dec 2016 - Jan 2017)

Why are you guys after his life to retire? Just for the heck of it? I would understand if you had 6-7 young batsman absolutely ready to play test cricket and deliver but your youngest prodigy is clearly struggling and it's understandable. You can't just ask someone to retire because he's x years old. You have to look at the circumstances and see whether you're ultimately benefitting the team long term. At the moment, Pakistan's batting is brittle, I see no worthwhile replacements for Younis Khan and if you push him into retirement you not only suffer short term losses but also deprive a guy like Azam dressing room time with him. He could learn so much by just talking to him or watching him bat..

Age is only a number and unlike limited overs cricket where there is a culmination in World Cups, test cricket is a series by series format and age and long term planning is less of a factor. You simply pick your best possible team every series!

Nailed it!

I can agree with you on that but I don't like players doing acts to grab some extra attention at the hay moments and on media. You can remember Tendulkar's grace while reaching milestones, he was most graceful and humbled man in cricket while reaching milestones alongside Imran Khan, Inzamam was also one of them, Lara as well, You name the Greats! In other sports, You can see the legend Roger Federer.. Personalities are different but Greats are usually humble. I think Kohli will realize it soon in some time to come, so is Azhar Ali. Can't be sure about Warner...

I think you're drawing incorrect parallels. Roger Federer has often broken into tears after grand slam wins. The last two I saw cry on the cricket field after triumph were Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth. Two people you'll probably never associate humble with. Lara, Tendulkar and basically any batsman of that generation (Inzi, Kallis, Ponting, Sangakkara etc) were very conscious of numbers. The game would suddenly stall as soon as they got into the late 80's. I admire the current generation a LOT more for the quality of not caring what score they're on. They just get on with it! So, contrary to your belief, I think times change and the current generation is as humble as the previous lot, but they just are more expressive and that's how it's going to be. You just take us with may be people who are in their late 40's. If something monumental happens in our life, we first want Facebook/Instagram to know rather than soak the feeling in. People in their 40's or late 40's will first share with their near and dear ones, then telephone people and then just may be if they find the time put it on Facebook/Instagram. It's not humility, it's evolution!

A question was floating in my mind throughout this series.

Q. Why people call Nathon Lyon, Gary? :p
Well Matt Wade always yells out "Nice Garyy!!" when Lyon is bowling. I suppose it's his nickname but I watched a youtube video with Wade yelling very loudly "Nice GARY" in the Adelaide Test match aganist South Africa. I think then people caught onto that.

I don't understand why Younis Khan always plays well under pressure. It seems like he screws up in the first few Tests of a tour, then he scores in the last Test match of the tour, just like he did now and that 200 aganist England at the Oval last summer. I think everyone should put him under pressure including his team so he can perform well :p.

This century has saved Younis' career, much like the one at The Oval. Now hopefully he'll post big scores consistently against Windies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

Those oppositions and venues aren't a challenge for his calibre. He will make bucket loads! His challenge has always been outside the subcontinent and he's proven he can make runs just about anywhere.

Great Knock by YK :)

There is a guy called Gary Lyons who is famous Australian footballer. Due to similarity in their surname, Wade first started calling him Gary ( "Nice Garrry" while Lyon was bowling) . Then the trend started.

Gary is like a pet name :p

Yasir Shah Destroyed :')

What a stupid decision to include Sharjeel in test squad. He is not a test match player and this artificial batting will ruin his ODI and T20 form too

I think by the end of his career Handscomb will be remembered as the 2nd best batsmen after Sir Don. Ponting rounding out the podium.

Australia can do much better than Smith in terms of captaincy tbh. Very poor handling of O'Keefe, his best spinner. Seems like managing spinners isn't his cup of tea, he committed the same mistakes in Sri Lanka too.

This just shows how tough it is for spinners to bowl on their first tour of Australia. Yasir Shah has been absolutely horrible in this tour so far.
