I think you're drawing incorrect parallels. Roger Federer has often broken into tears after grand slam wins. The last two I saw cry on the cricket field after triumph were Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth. Two people you'll probably never associate humble with. Lara, Tendulkar and basically any batsman of that generation (Inzi, Kallis, Ponting, Sangakkara etc) were very conscious of numbers. The game would suddenly stall as soon as they got into the late 80's. I admire the current generation a LOT more for the quality of not caring what score they're on. They just get on with it! So, contrary to your belief, I think times change and the current generation is as humble as the previous lot, but they just are more expressive and that's how it's going to be. You just take us with may be people who are in their late 40's. If something monumental happens in our life, we first want Facebook/Instagram to know rather than soak the feeling in. People in their 40's or late 40's will first share with their near and dear ones, then telephone people and then just may be if they find the time put it on Facebook/Instagram. It's not humility, it's evolution!
