Came up with some teams based on the players in the original squad, this one, injured players and a few others that are doing well in the Blast this year. There's probably half a dozen others who might be ahead of some I picked as well as Bess or Ollie Robinson who might well get limited overs chances. Probably forgotten someone!

Wouldn't necessarily be my picks a 1-4, but possible combinations.

On a scale of 1-10 - how sad is it that despite us being in the state we're currently in, I still have some hope that this pair will pull through?

65 off 53, it's definitely not impossible.

Pakistan are a strong side.
I won't say strong but they are definitely good and probably played their best Cricket in South Africa earlier this year. But the performances in between like this series keeps on proving otherwise. Modern day Cricket you expect the sides to be tactically strong unlike the current Pakistan side.

Some sides pick up their game a bit against England. I think Pakistan are one of those. In that sense these results have surprised me a bit.

Yes I agree with this. This is probably because of the fact that England at present are the strongest ODI team. And this is also what teams used to do when they played Australia about 6-7 years ago. So yes, teams do pick their game a bit against the current England limited overs team. But, I also think that Pakistan haven't accessed these conditions at all from the way they have played. They were expecting flat decks where run scoring was a lot easier but they have instead got seaming pitches where the new ball is moving a bit. The new ball overs are hurting Pakistan's batting more than anything else.

And to add to the earlier thing, Pakistan do tend to take it for granted when they play under strength teams over the years.

In both games, Pakistan lost it mentally. England have this 'unbeatable' aura around themselves- rather their reputation preceded them in both games.

Pakistan, on paper, look challenging enough and the conditions ought to have aided some of their bowlers. Going down without a fight is probably the worst way to lose a game- esp if it comes against a second XI
