Clarke finally moved to 4 in Tests, been a long time coming. Hussey at 5 sounds a lot better to me, also moves him one position closer to batting with the tail although it's one dam strong tail for this match.

I still find it facile that Paine should bat at 7, with no first class century in almost four years.

Completely agree, he has been most ordinary in FC cricket, its a slap in the face for the other keepers who have been racking up the runs over the past season or two- Ronchi, Hartley and Wade in particular. But he has shown pretty good application and temperament in the odi's so there shouldnt be any worries in test cricket, but to me he isnt that much more skilled than Healy with the bat, I dont see him averaging 40, maybe somewhere around Boucher/Mccullum. Not that thats bad, but i'm sure a lot of Vic fans would agree that Wade has the potential to be literally as good as Gilchrist at 7.

Ronchi and Wade needed another season to really push their case. Alot harder for the selectors to pick based on one season. Paine was really picked for his ODI experience and perhaps being embarked as the replacement for Haddin. I agree Wade is looks the best potentially though, he seems to have the ability to destroy teams or to produce those consistent knocks.

I would have put Yasir Hameed in place of one of the debutants. I agree with dropping Malik as his technique against short bowling would have made him ineffective considering the pace attack Aussies have. Pakistan have thrown the young guns to lions. It remains to be seen whether they will be a fighting meal or crunchy tasty one.

Pakistan should have bat first because if Aus batted first then they'll certainly score 350+ and then Pak young players will be under such pressure

Instead of complaining you could be greatful that you are actually getting some cricket to play instead of being in the same situation as Zimbabwe. Okay there is a little bit of rain, but at least you are getting some.
