Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

Smith gone as well. Looks like he was unlucky though, as Hotspot has picked up an inside edge. Looked very comfortable against Gul too, shame to see him go so early. What's that now, 2-1 in favour of Pakistan as far as umpire decisions go?

There is no chance the umpire could have picked up that inside edge, even with the replays in slow motion you cannot pick up the nick, only with hotspot you can tell.

One thing which annoyed me about the commentary was how the commentators kept harping on about Ponting's poor record at Lords, of course they didnt mention that Tendulkar has an equally poor record there too, i dont think he has ever scored 50 there in a test match, they made out like Punter was the only player to not make runs there. Not so. Its just one ground. I dont recall Lara ever doing much at Lords either.

If they went on about every player who hasn't scored too many runs at Lord's it could take a while....

When India toured England, they kept harping on about Sachin's record too. *shrug*

Hah- yeah, EVERYONE has a hole in their record somewhere. They just like sticking the boot into Ponting if they get the chance.

Hopefully the conditions remain good for bowling today and we'll see what the Aussies can muster. Would love to see Mitch swing it

And poor Marcus North, it's really feast or famine with him. But he barely ever stays around long enough, it's less than 10 or 100s with him. I think the biggest part of our collapsing problems would be fixed by getting Marcus right or replacing him.

Lara, Tendulkar, and Ponting all don't have 100s at Lord's; and Tendulkar and Ponting don't have 50s - Lara scored 54 in 1995.

Tendulkar averages 21.28 in 7 innings (HS 37) , Lara averages 21 in 6 innings (HS 54), and Ponting averages 19.28 in 7 innings (HS 42)

Must say the entire complexion of the game could be different if UDRS was implemented (and referrals made)

As it stands, 2 decisions against both sides, although I think Pakistan got the worse deal with Katich being out very early on and going on to make 80.

I hope Ricky is banned from the second test for his physical altercation with Aamer.

Really now, a 35 year old fighting with an 18 year old. Hmm.

And why would they do that? Was Sachin playing in the match? ;)

Sorry but it was not Ponting's fault this time. He was using his space but Aamer as usual was jumping on the batsman after getting his wicket. He did it with Clarke few days ago. Ponting shouldn't be banned. He was protecting himself.

If you watch clearly, Aamer was moving away from Ponting, and Ponting purposely sticks his elbow out - not his hand, not his arm, but his elbow.

And he has the audacity to complain about it to the umpire.

Nah, not Ponting's fault. Aamer gets a little carried away at times.

Aamer was exceptional. He bowled so beautifully and when you consider the fact that it was first appearance at this level at Lords, it shows his mental fortitude as a cricketer. He did not try to bowl quick at all and was always near 135 KPH. He read the conditions well and was trying to get swing/seam rather than pace. Asif is a seasoned performer for Pakistan and his three wickets were very crucial. Kaneria bowled well too and tale was all at sea against him. Now Pakistan must not get negative and try and get hussy out. They are bowling to him as if he is a left handed bradman. Pakistan should go all out and try and get Aussies out at most before 250.

It was not Aamer's fault. He did get a little close to Ponting but it did not warrant Ponting elbowing him. Aamer could have behaved differently but he kind of ignored the incident and that was for better.

I think it's innocent, but careless. Kind of like a happy dog. In fact, that's exactly what it looked like when he ran into Clarke, as if he mistook him for his master.

^what kind of a dog will get his master out clean bowled :sarcasm. He is only 18 and he got the best batsman in world out. I think that should also be kept in mind when some one gives their opinion on this incident.

Can't help but fell as though this little elbow incident is being made to seem bigger than it actually is. Let it go.

Great bowling from Aamer and Asif. Really put Australia on the back foot. It'll be interesting to see how Australia come back from this and whether Pakistan can mount a decent 1st innings lead and not self destruct. I expect to see Australia's innings ended quickly, but Hussey is out there and he has a knack of batting well with the tail.

Especially against Pakistan :(
