Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

Pakistan ruined it for themselves by letting the last two Australian partnerships make 126 runs.

Pakistan has reached now their second fifty partnership, but it won't help them much.

They have to bat sensibly and session by session to win this one!!

Pretty close misses their and one wicket here and Australia in front seat!

Perfect from Pakistan, this is exactly how they should be approaching this run chase cause there is so much time left in the game but I don't think they can chase it down really. The Hilfenhaus-Paine partnership has taken the game away from them.

Should have chucked in some of those pies he was bowling today, and Tuesday, as well.

Pakistan have a slim hope here. I think if they are going to get anywhere near their target someone will have to make 150+, and that someone will most likely have to be Butt. He holds the key for me. Pakistan's tail is dreadful, so you can't expect them to get many runs.

Butt has batted really well so far and we as a batting unit have done well so far. However keeping in mind the target remaning and the players to come, Butt really should not go too defensive tomorrow. I'd prefer he play with some degree of positivity like he did today.
Azhar Ali has been a bit of an anomaly. He seems one of those players that doesn't let you feel his presence at the crease. However that can be a good thing since these kinds of players can creep up on the opposition team in terms of making runs, before you know it they are on 60-70.

Hilfy certainly has worked on his batting, hes made our long batting lineup even longer now. Congrats to Smith already in the wickets, looks like he will need to do some bowling as Pakistan are going a lot better this time round with the two destructive players still to come as well.

Massive congrats to Hilfy, his batting 12 months ago was number 11 material, really quite awful in SA. I have a friend who plays for the same Tassie club as Hilfy and he told me a little while ago that Hilfy had been doing a lot of batting work while he couldnt bowl, his defence is much tighter and even has some shots now, I actually found it fascinating viewing to be honest, big transformation for him, paid off straight away vs SL A and now in the test. Well done indeed!

We have some great tail end batting talent, over the past 20 years its been a real strength, wasnt so good in the 80's but when Merv Hughes got his batting together he began to add some steel to the lower roder, then May, Warne came along, even Julian provided some valuable knocks in the early 90's. Reiffel is the man I liked, he was really getting his batting together before he got injured and retired, averaged 27 at the end of his career which is fantastic.

Yeah agree. It's kinda good sometimes when these bowlers cop an injury - they work on their batting. It happened for Shane Watson too (a few times :p)

And hopefully Australia doesn't get shafted by the weather again. It happened in the Ashes last year, always seemed to cloud over when we came in to bat and the sun came out when the Poms came in :noway But 440 should be too much for this Pakistani batting lineup.
