Butt is a very good player of pace and comfortable on the back foot. On song, he puts forward a very good case, because he is a clean hitter who racks up boundaries. However, he has tended to be poor against spin and a bit awkward off his pads. These sorts of things have probably stopped him from going on with a lot of starts. Being Pakistani probably doesn't help, because there's a fair bit of 'rotation' going on, even for the top players.

On a serious note, Butt always seems to perform against the Aussies and on pacy wickets, he is an anomaly amongst his teammates

Somehow Butt is making batting look easy. Within 20 minutes play he scored already 4 fours.

I seriously think that Pakistan are going to do it if Johnson continues to bowl like that they're effectively a bowler down. Added on top of that Butt has looked excellent.

And to top the topped off this pitch suddenly looks dead flat and it isn't swinging at all quite similar to what happened in the 2nd Ashes Test where the sun came out every time England batted
