It wasn't a brilliant tactic, but Watson trumped it with an even worse idea. What is key (for Butt, at least) is that it was an idea, however daft it may be. Even the worst idea has a better chance of succeeding than to have no idea at all.

I think Kaneria could be more effective if he wasn't always such a last resort for his captain. The quicks have their go and then if that doesn't work, he's left to break a partnership with the field spreading.

Ponting just reached 12.000 runs. The way he is playing it looks like he is more comfortable with the circumstances.

Gul hasn't been bowling well today.

In previous Test matches at Headingley (3) Ponting has made at least a fifty. He looks like he is going to continue with that.

Also in every Test series against Pakistan he made at least a fifty. So no surprises that he just got his fifty.

Asif to Clarke appears to be causing some chances, or at least, some very loud shouting. Pakistan need a wicket, but to be fair, they still lead. Australia need these two batsman to instill some control on the game.

The ICC seriously need to ban Kamran Akmal from talking during a game. He has the most annoying voice of any wicket-keeper in the world. I can't help but find him incredibly irritating. It's not just the voice, but the voice-face combination. That voice with a punchable face is not a good combination. He's the Josh Koscheck of Cricket, except Akmal has an annoying face, and with Koscheck it's the face and hair to go with the fact he's a cock.
