Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

Doesn't look the greatest, I just hope we get some good play under way to get a look at Paine, Smith and Hilfy.

Pakistan would rather like to play in dry conditions. A wet square and outfield is least desired by a team that depends a lot on reverse swing and spinners. Rain would make it harder for Pakistan to survive the Aussie assault. :facepalm

^I agree it might help them with the new ball but Pakistan's strength lies with reverse swing. If the outfield gets too wet, reverse swing might not be there for us. Overcast conditions suit us but rain water won't.

Australia are going to be bowled out before any chance of reverse swing happening takes place.

No, he owns Gilad the Camel. :laugh

I see the match starts on a Tuesday. That means the fourth day is on a Friday and by then the match could be over. So there will be no revenue from a Saturday. Maybe they should have started on a Wednesday.

Pakistan will be playing 2 debutants tomorrow, ala India in 1996 (Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly)

The team is

1. Salman Butt
2. Imran Farhat
3. Azhar Ali
4. Umar Amin
5. Umar Akmal
6. Shahid Afridi (C)
7. Kamran Akmal (WK)
8. Mohammad Aamir
9. Umar Gul
10. Danish Kaneria
11. Mohammad Asif

This is almost a suicidal team to play, 2 debutants in the top order. But it may just work.

Yeah, Australia aren't gonna last 4 days against us.

^Can any of those new kids bat for long periods? Because that strikes me as a very attacking middle order and not much in the tail. Afridi and the Akmal bros. might score a fair few runs, but I don't think they'll be out there for long. The result will really hang on 2 things: can Australia bat well against the Pak pace trio? And will the Aussie pace trio be in good enough form to knock down a fairly weak looking Pakistan lineup?

huh dude, you left out Shoaib Malik.... my line up will be

1. Salman Butt
2. Yasir Hameed
3. Shoaib Malik
4. Umar Amin
5. Umar Akmal
6. Kamran Akmal (WK)
7. Azhar Ali
8. Shahid Afridi (C)

We don't really need Danesh Kaneria.... he is a stock bowler... if he does end up throwing down 50 odd overs then we have lost the match anyways. If the rest of the bowlers won't be able to do the job, then its a lost cause anyways. Better to have an extra batsman, in case we need to save the match.

In fact, we should replace all bowlers with all rounders... then Aus can bat for 3 days and we will try out to bat the other 2 days with 11 batsman... might be possible to draw :P

ksduded, that is not my line-up. That is Shahid Afridi and Waqar Younis's line up - the team has already been announced for today's game.

Well how much worse can they go than the previous guys?

Clarke finally moved to 4 in Tests, been a long time coming. Hussey at 5 sounds a lot better to me, also moves him one position closer to batting with the tail although it's one dam strong tail for this match.
