Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

Nick Knight summed up the England performance very well. Decent, but room for improvement.

Still don't understand Bresnan's place as a front-line seamer. I like what I've seen of Shahzad and think he'll offer a lot more in Australia and the Sub-Continent this winter in the short stuff.

Same, also isn't Shahzad meant to have some ability with the bat which is another reason why the selectors are so keen on Bresnan? Surely if he builds up on that, plus the fact that I feel he is the superior bowler and the fact that Broad and Swann are no fool with the bat, I really don't see the need for Bresnan

What did you guys think of Irfan? I don't rate him at all, not only does he not have the pace, but lacks any lateral movement with the ball and has no accuracy what-so-ever (was landing it full&wide, then short, awful really).

Unless your've actually seen him bowl before yesterday's match making judgements on his bowling ability on the back of one innings is rather frivolous.

Why get so serious dude? Where does it say we can't form small opinions of players after 1 innings? BTW what did you think about him?

Nowhere. But it's rather silly to do so, especially when that one innings is only 5.3 overs long for the said player.

As for what I thought of him, well I didn't think he looked anything special. He's very raw and that was quite evident in his bowling last night. He doesn't use all of his height to his advantage and seems quite crouched whilst delivering the ball, he doesn't appear to use his front arm very well either which would hinder his pace somewhat. Now from what I gather he hasn't played that much professional cricket, one would have to wonder if he'll be able to handle the daily rigors of being an international cricketer. If I had to guess I'd say he'll struggle with injuries for a wee while, a bowler of his size with his limited professional career span is a walking injury IMO, especially at this level with the amount of cricket he could play.

I can see him being carted everywhere in the World Cup if we play him.

I didn't like Irfan..:noway

He was bowling everywhere and he has just player 10 domestic matches.. I think he should practice his skills more in the domestic level and if he does an outstanding job there then call him back.

I think Pakistan batted a bit better than would have been expected. Really all they need to do is concentrate a bit better, to avoid those silly moments like Fawad Alam and Umar Akmal had. Those two could actually have won it and it wasn't really like the bowlers had figured them out.

Those who saw Asif bowl in first tour of Australia had same opinion about him. Look what he became (not as person but as bowler)

:facepalm Why is Bresnan still there? Haven't the selectors realised if the likes of Kamran Akmal can cart him around the ground he really isn't an international standard bowler.....

He's just so average. At least with Shahzad you know he can get a wicket whilst maybe being carted. Bresnan doesn't get wickets when he's being expensive.

He hasn't bowled with gross inaccuracy, but he's definitely wearing a target. Batsmen just aren't threatened by him.
