Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

the only painful thing about this series is that I cannot bear the fact we will have so few oppertunities to see this bowling attack. They are intelligent, varied and exciting.

for entertainment factor this has been probably the best series in a while (and this match in particular, had collapses, amazing bowling, good batting, gritty batting, spin bowling, seam bowling, 5-fers, newbie success, triumphant returns of old masters, tons) it has been tremendous fun. Pakistan to win and set up a live rubber please.
Agree, for all but that the batting has been good. Both teams have below par batting line ups, and the batting has been terrible bar the odd individual rescue innings.

I would love to watch the Pakistani bowlers bowl all day. However, watching them bat is painful.

I think Cook will do well in Australia with his backfoot play. Shame he has a terrible front foot technique, shown up in swinging conditions. It's far better for a player to be poor playing the short deliveries because at least he can leave them all, or fend it off, like what Sehwag does. Can't do the same if your front foot technique is poor.

Great comeback by Pakistan. Once again our bowling attack has proven to be the best in the business. I was particularly impressed by Aamirs performance with the old bowl. It was amazing how he could replicate the great wasim. Coming around the wicket angling in at 90MPH and moving it away is really a feat rarely achieved by a bloke who is only 19:eek:. I am sure we can wrap England up early in the morning and with no demons in the pitch, a target of 150-160 should not be problem for our fortified batting line up. :happy

Scary thought of what Pakistan could become if they got their fielding and batting sorted. Khan should give the batting more stability and allow the youngsters to develop without the pressure of being the best batsmen.

Great stuff from Pakistan. Went to sleep with Pietersen and Trott at the crease, looking to pile it on and now Pakistan have got England 9 down with a sub-150 lead. Absolute prime opportunity right here. Don't mess up...

you know who I am giving a lot of credit for this turn around to.

Ajmal, I always thought kaneria was the better test match spinner and perhaps that's still the case when both are on form, but Ajmal is bringing a joyous personality to the side, you can imagine him joking about off the field making it fun for the young players and keeping everyone's heads up. He likes playing cricket, as crazy as that sounds, that's something that's been missing from pakistan. They have tried to make themselves more professional but it's just not worked, they've got to learn to play the game with a smile, 5 days (or 4 as they normally last :/ ) is too long to spend trudging about embarassed by the situation. Even Mohammad yousuf smiled a few times, while fielding!!!

if England somehow scrounge 170+ish they have more than decent chance of winning. This is probably where having Moyo in the side will prove to be the difference for the Pakistanis. I hope they win tomorrow, they deserve it and it sets up Lord's nicely.

Mark added 1 Minutes and 10 Seconds later...

Drop KP for Lords? :spy

Ajmal is definetly a comical figure.

Might I mention again, I loved the spell Ajmal and Aamir bowled. Mind-blowing :D
This is what real TEST cricket is.

The British papers and media aren't too happy about Saeed Ajmal's bowling action.

It's just a bit ridiculous to be honest, first ball tampering in 1992, and now the doosra.

Saeed Ajmal has already been cleared by the ICC so really its just the English whining as usual. I guess nothing has changed.

You're forgetting that our bowling attack isn't too bad either and have fun facing Swann on that pitch. ;)

Or you can totally put away your front-foot game and camp on the back-foot, like Strauss.

Watch out for those defensive field setting by Butt tomorrow morning.

Sky commentators who kept mentioning it and the 'kink' in Ajmal's action.

And Bob Willis says 'he doesn't think much of ajmal' and 'yeah it's good bowling... if it's legal'

Also BBC Sport - Cricket - Jonathan Agnew column

Saeed Ajmal is also a very dangerous bowler, and to not know which way the ball is spinning plays havoc with the mind and makes him exceptionally difficult to face.

I'm not just saying this because he took wickets but I think his action does need looking at though, and there is a lot of chuntering going on from people who think the same.

Paragraphs 9-10

Bob Willis: "If Ajmal is allowed to bowl that doosra he will cause problems in the world"

"It's a different skill if you can call it that"
