Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

hoping aamer gets his 5fer tomorow,
he deserves it.

pakistan are lucky they got taken off so they can start fresh tomorow and hope to knock off the runs before tea.

if they batted today they would have gone into tomorow 2-3 down

INsomniac just shut the fearsome tweak up for once and enjoy the cricket. The world is not out to get Pakistan

Ajmal had his action tested and its all legal. Willis and all the other idiots can shut the fearsome tweak up.

I can see willis' point, it is difficult to bowl a doosra, his is turning a good bit and ajmal has looked a bit dodgey before

HOWEVER...

it's a bit odd that they then find him so difficult to pick if they are admitting his doosra action is practically identical to his offspinner and his straight ball. It doesn't really add up unless they are suggesting he chucks every ball, which is possibly what he is saying but I don't think that would be normal, usually these bends creep into bowlers games as they try to add variation.

Willis anyway I can tolerate. Aggers is a moron, always has been. His opinions are rarely popular so it's unfair to generalise using him as your example.

Pakistan could be chasing a target of 150-160 runs. I can still see them getting in trouble.

The big difference compared to the previous Tests is that Kamran Akmal is holding the catches.

The top 6 Pakistani batsmen need to finish the match, if they want to win it. I can't see Umar Akmal and the tailenders holding out that long, when they will be in pressure to chase the target.

If Imran Farhat or Butt can reach a fifty I can see Pakistan winning the Test match. Butt really needs to make a contribution this time. In 5 innings he only made 33 runs.

Oh yes it is,
Oh no it isn't,
Oh yes it is,
Oh no it isn't

For the record, England fans/media/commentators/ex-pros etc don't just question someone's action every time they take wickets against us, it is quite obviously a concern. All four of the Pakistan attack took wickets during one or t'other innings so why not just eat the chips on your shoulders and get on with the cricket because we're not saying he alone destroyed us by cheating.

If it is legal then fair play, if it isn't then unfair play - simples.

Big burden of responibility on Broad's shoulders, let's hope they are Broad enough to carry it :D He needs to play it sensibly, there are two wrong ways and one right way, although they do much depend on circumstance. He does need to farm the strike, but let's not get into the silly situation of turning down half a dozen to a dozen singles when he may get stuck or out the next ball/over. He needs to be positive but only to the right balls and play percentage shots, thankfully he has some runs to his name although that didn't help Prior. I'm not sure he needs to make a decision over who faces doosra cheat* Ajmal, is there any guarantee he'll survive any more than Finn. How Finn plays it is key, is he going to be able to block with lots of catchers around him, or should he plant his foot with pad inbetween ball and stump and take swings? (to the spinner) I hope they put on 50 and make it a contest, but I'm guessing they'll do well to bat 4-5 overs. I'm hoping the Pakistanis make a mistake and open with pace at both ends

*just kidding

Yousuf came in and made a difference, as he should have last Test. Hameed also added some stability to the side, even though Ali was top scorer those two added the same number of runs as Ali between them and considering 92 would have been near par for the course for Pakistan before this Test, that is more crucial than some may have given credit to

I would love 30 more runs before England get out to make it interesting.

Jelly beans, 2007. Remember.

Hey that wasn't England moaning. That was Zaheer Khan having a moan because someone had thrown Jelly beans on the pitch

:laugh

Broad gone straight away. Not enough even Pakistan will get that.

That's a quick one. Amir got Broad out after four balls.

Pakistan can still fail to reach this target.

Sky commentators who kept mentioning it and the 'kink' in Ajmal's action.

The sky commentators also said that his action was perfectly legal as it doesn't matter about him having a kink but rather if he moves his arm once it reaches the upright.

And if you think Bob Willis or Johnathon Agnew represent the English media you're much mistaken. Especially Bob Willis, anything he says should be taken with a spoonful of salt.
