Pakistan vs New Zealand @ UAE 2009

Taylor is pretty consistent these days, he's either scoring runs, or he's not. At the moment he's not.

He's been outstanding in the IPL & CLT20. I hope he carries that form through into this game. NZ needs it. Otherwise Pakistan is pretty much gonna murder NZ and walk away with the series

Err what???
Taylor got a duck last match, and New Zealand wasted Pakistan.
IPL & CLT20 is just much around. Wow he smashed around some average AUS, IND and SA domestic players. It doesn't make a good player being good at T20.
We do probably need him to fire, as I don't think McCullum will make back to back big scores.

Ross Taylor is a perfect example of the difference in skill level from CT/IPL and International cricket. He had no problem smashing those mickey mouse cricketers in the domestic leagues but can't buy a run in International cricket.

Exactly. Watching the highlights of some of the CL20/20 innings he was facing some very poor bowling, medium pacers bowling 125-130 and piss poor spinners at times. It's right in his element that type of stuff, it brings his slog over mid-wicket right into the game.

Yeah I completely agree with you guys.
It still no excuse for getting out on back to back ducks though...
With the test matches coming up later this month, we really need him to find some form, or it will put even more pressure on Dan down the order.
It is by no means a great Pak bowling line-up, we have seen him play some good innings against quality Aus line-ups, so there is not really that much reason why he is struggling so much...

CG123 added 4 Minutes and 18 Seconds later...

Cricinfo's probable New Zealand line-up is this:

New Zealand: 1 Aaron Redmond, 2 Brendon McCullum (wk), 3 Martin Guptill, 4 Ross Taylor, 5 Scott Styris, 6 Neil Broom, 7 Jacob Oram, 8 Daniel Vettori (capt), 9 Tim Southee, 10 Kyle Mills, 11 Shane Bond.

You would except Vettori and Oram to bat 6 and 7 respectively, which would put Broom down at eight... At the number 8 position you really need an all-rounder who can hit the ball and bowl which is ideal for Franklin. Am I missing something here? Is he injured as well, or what?

Didn't Franklin miss the first game because he had back stiffness? He might still not be right.

Looking forward to this one, will be listening to it while I am sleeping, love doing that!

I'm still not sure what time I shall get up to watch it.
It starts midnight (or close to it) NZ time, which is probably the worst possible time.
I'm thinking I'll just get up for the second innings.

I just leave the audio running all night on my laptop, am a light sleeper and usually dream about the match thats going on . Also will wake up if there are any key moments as the loud crowd noise startles me.

Going to watch the end before I go to work its the only chance I have to see any of it :(

Watching the whole game tonight (hopefully). Uni finished Friday so I've got a bit of spare time.

Lucky... NCEA exams don't start till next week.
So I can't really afford to miss out on a whole nights sleep. :(
