Pakistani Tour of New Zealand, Dec-Feb 2010/11

Isn't that what you're supposed to do anyway? Too much over-excitement for just 4 overs. It's not like he was smacking 30 every over.

What does that have to do with the weather :/

It's one of the nicest cricket grounds in NZ.

although i remember the last game played at queenstown was rained out too. :D

and lol at insomniac's post to play in indoor stadiums, how will that work? The roof would have to be atleast 5 MCG levels off the ground, not to mention that the ball might still hit the roof skyed by the batsmen.

if the ball hits the roof you get 12 runs like the Honk Kong Super Sixes.....

If it hits the roof, dead ball.

And I laugh at you, because international cricket has been played in indoor stadiums in the past in Australia :)

The rule in those games were dead ball if it hits the roof. No ball hit the roof, so no issue.

In the World

Infact its one of the nicest cricket grounds in the whole world. It was breath-taking, and very very pleasing to watch. But there is also a truth that such places are highly unpredictable about their weather, you never know what it starts raining.

As far as the second ODI. Pak team started with a bang and it was appearing that they have come with a purpose on a low scoring wicket.

Central Otago is on average the driest place in New Zealand....

Here are the six ODI venues, and their precipitation in mm during January.

Hamilton - 85
Queenstown - 78
Auckland - 75
Wellington - 72
Napier - 48
Christchurch - 42

So it's the second most likely to be cancelled out of the six ODI matches, but there's not really much between the top four.

Hamilton's the wettest (during January), but IIRC there was no rain during the test, so it really just comes down to luck on the day.

I thought it was supposed to rain in Christchurch for tomorrows game but it actually looks like it could be alright...

The rule in those games were dead ball if it hits the roof. No ball hit the roof, so no issue.

there were only 3 odi's played at the etihad stadium, and there must have been issues with the lights or something of that sort for games not to be played there anymore.

plus if a batsman does sky a ball and it hits the roof that ball could've been six runs or a catch to any fielder, missed opportunity on both sides.

The new Dunedin stadium's going to have a roof, but no cricket's going to be played there. That will be the first proper stadium in New Zealand to have one.

There is an Indoor Stadium at Melbourne Austrailla. Some Matches were played at that venue but I think the experiment was not fun.

Bennett struggling a bit today, but Southee :clap

Not sure why Southee's been taken off though

Hafeez looking like Tendulkar tonight, he's on for a 100 hopefully

Should give an excellent platform for Umar, Afridi, and Razzaq to bat NZ out of the game. 300 is on I think
