England 281 all out

For all you Flintoff fans, he did get his century!!! Details coming later in the day, way too sleepy to type right now. Took me 10 minutes to type this. :p

Oh well, even if Flintoff did get his century, atleast England are all out :)

Flintoff takes England's score further, but not enough

At the beginning of the second day, neither Flintoff nor Hoggard looked comfortable against the Pakistani bowling attack. Shoaib Akhtar was finally able to get an edge out of Hoggard as the batsman tried to defend against one of Akhter's yorkers.

A few overs after Hoggard's dismissal Flintoff was able to reach his first century of the test series and his fifth of his test career. As soon as he reached his century he started pouncing the spinners all over but got out caught as he drove one through the covers.

In the next few overs Harmison and Anderson did their best to hold on to their wickets but Saqlain Mushtaq eventually got through Harmison as one his off-spinners edged off the tail-ender's bat and Malik at silly point took an easy catch thus ending England's first inning for 281 runs.

England 281 all out (96.4 overs) - Day 2
A. Flintoff 112 (208) | M. Butcher 81 (149) | M. Amir 26.0-7-81-3

Rain ruins start for Pakistan

As Pakistani openers tried to make the best of a great opportunity to post a big total against a relatively small lead set by England, mother nature decided to favor the Englishmen and started pouring down her tears, causing the match to stop. It rained for a good four and a half hours and play was finally resumed after 4:20 PM.

After the play resumed, Salman Butt faced off against Hoggard and hit him for a couple of boundaries just before edging a delivery in an attempt to play backfoot square cut. Pakistan lost an early wicket at the score of just 24.

Losing Butt early didn't seem to have the negative effect Vaughan might have hoped for. Instead, opener Imran Nazir and the new batsman Shoaib Malik played against their style and played very defensively, going after only the bad balls. Hoggard did his best to get rid of Nazir, who was looking more and more confident after facing every delivery. The battle between Nazir and Hoggard heated up after a dangerous bouncer that ricocheted off of Nazir's helmet. In Hoggard's next over, Imran Nazir hit him for 12 runs.

At the end of the day, both batsmen were looking very confident and were looking to post a big partnership.

Pakistan 65/1 (25 Overs) - Stumps (Day 2)
I. Nazir 33*(74) | S. Malik 19*(53)
England lead by 216 runs

pakistan done well to only lose 1 wicket, and they look in a good position here

I would say even though pakistan have lost only 1 wicket, they have scored way too slowly. if they go at this rate, some time or the other, they will lose more wickets. so, it sounds like mother nature is being slightly kind to pakistan

yea i hope they can pick up the run rate. maybe theyre just playing it safe with the wet conditions. they know its a small total so they dont wanna make foolish mistakes and give their wickets away.
