I think Amir should be immediately asked to change his bat. Its the ICC who have allowed him to play with that bat and it was not his own decision. Any player is under the control of the ICC and the player has to abide by the rules. Amir has to be asked to change his bat!

Looking at the regulations as posted by Mvaughn, he should not be allowed to use the bat. If he refuses to change, ban him.

The ICC ( Me ) Has told Muhammad Amir that the next time he bats he MUST have a new bat, abiding the rules of the ICC. The ICC have announced that Michelle Vaughan should not have made any comments of his to the public through the media. He is fined 150% of his match fee, which goes to Muhammad Amir to purchase a new bat due to his AC DC bat being criticized.

Lets wait for the match to be over before we decide what we shall do about this bat situation. Vaughan being fined that much for a justified comment he made in an interview is way too harsh. Match updates coming soon...

BTW, looks like Faraz Haider has been busy posting, lol.

Pakistan lose wickets but Youhana holds on

At the start of the last session of the day, both Afridi and Youhana started scoring some quick runs off of the English pacers. Flintoff in particular gave up 16 runs in one of his overs, but got his revenge and England a big breakthrough by taking Afridi's wicket in his next over. At this point Youhana decided to depend on singles to score runs and did so successfully with Kamran Akmal on the other end. This partnership went on past 50 runs before it was broken by an amazing catch of Akmal taken by Harmison off of Flintoff. Pakistan were now 290/7.

With the tail now exposed, Youhana did his best to take most of the strike and in the process completed his first test century in a long time. But despite Youhana's efforts, England's pacers were able to pick up two more wickets to put Pakistan at 323/9 at the end of the day.

While to talking reporters outside of his dressing room, the star batsman of the day Yousuf Youhana didn't have much to say about his accomplishments but concentrated more on his failure's of the day. "I should've kept more strike so we wouldn't lose too many wickets. But England's field settings made it very hard to score more than a single at a time for me. I have to give credit to their captain, he planned this out well after we lost Kami (Kamran Akmal), and didn't let me have much strike". He went on to point out that tomorrow morning Shoaib Akhtar will be facing the first ball instead of Youhana, which worried him, his coach, and captain deeply.

One of the contributors of Pakistan's score of 323 was Muhammad Amir, who was questioned towards the end of the day's play by a reporter about Vaughan's remarks regarding his bat. He reportedly turned away from the reporter and said with a smirk "At least mine's not corked". In a related news article in Cricinfo, some of the members of ICC held a meeting yesterday morning, and according to the news article Amir's bat was a point of discussion.

ICC Reduce Ban on Vaughan

Cricinfo Staff

June 22, 2005

After reviews in the media about the 150% Match fee penatly imposed on Michael Vaughan, the ICC have decided to cut that percentage down to 75%, while Muhammad Amir is to purchase or get a new bat, and he will not recieve the money from Vaughan's penalty money, and instead will have to use his own money, and is fined 25% of his match fee for using an illegal bat in the match. The ICC Also would like to say that 50% of the front of the bat must be showing the wood of the bat, and the back can be anything, so the AC DC logo may be on the back but not the front.

ECB furious with the ICC

The England and Wales Cricket Board has decided to fight against Vaughan's penalty of 75% of his Match Fee for complaining in public about Muhammad Amir's bat.

What the hell? - says ECB Chief David Collier

Speaking on this matter, ECB Chief David Collier said "I dont see anything wrong with Vaughan's statement about Muhammad Amir's bat, especially since it was clearly violating the rules of the ICC itself."

"If at all anyone should be penalised here, it is Muhammad Amir himself."

"We have submitted our complaint to the ICC, and we hope they remove the fine, as Vaughan himself is very disappointed."

However Mr. Collier made it clear that the England team would not boycott the match presentation ceremony under any circumstances.

The ICC, has not released any statement on this matter.

Actually, I would prefer it if I did the story telling in this thread. Siddhart's original post regarding Amir's bat gave me a great idea about making an issue out of this, but I'd like to handle that issue in another way, make it a bit realistic. 150% fine for Vaughan's comment is not very realistic, :p

BTW, how can it be a news article form June 22nd when the series doesn't even start until November?

What the hell? - says ECB Chief David Collier

LOL!

Okay coming to the match then, I just hope England pickup the last wicket as soon as possible tomorrow morning. Sometimes these last wicket partnerships go on and on.
