Sorry guys my internet connection was screwed up so I couldn't post results, but I'll do it tomorrow morning (14 hours from now) as I am leaving for work now.

West Indies Reply...

WI openers made a decent start to the inning playing very cautiously, defending even the least threatening delivery. They managed to save their wickets until the 10th over when Gayle lofted a straight one into the air and was easily caught by Imran Nazir.

At this time, WI were batting at a slow rate of 3.5 per over, but things sped up quickly with the arrival of the captain. This Lara-Hinds partnership troubled all the Pakistani bowlers and took their partnership close to a 100 when Afridi was finally able to get through Lara, taking his wicket just before he could complete his 50.

Just 10 runs later, Hinds got runout trying to score a risky single off of Amir, ending his fabulous inning of 67 runs.

West Indies win!

By this time the damage had already been done. Despite great efforts by the Pakistani bowlers, WI were still able to acheive the target in 41.2 overs and with 3 wickets remaining. Sarwan was declared Man-of-the-Match for his destructive 5/38 that left Pakistani team paralyzed. Here are the stats from the inning.

West Indies now lead the 3-ODI series 1-0.

Bad luck! One good thing is with the CPU winning matches lately the stories are very interesting!

I think this is due to Tutsi and Boss's patches. Am I rite, nightprowler??

That's right saisrini. The reason I lost wickets to spinners was that it was really hard to defend against the yorkers in Boss's new patch. I'm gonna try the next match with Tutsi's patch, which I will start playing tomorrow morning after work.

Try to play the on drive only for defending yorkers. And play the shot a second after the bowler delivers the ball (or if you find them bowling a flighted delivery!)

I actually lost Afridi's wicket in that way, I used the advance on-drive to send the ball to mid-on, but the ball flew to him instead. Did you mean regular front-foot on-drive?

Anyway, I have started the match and WI are batting first. I'll post the results when the inning is done.

Pak vs. WI - 2nd ODI

Sorry about the abscense of updates on the series, but my computer screwed up and didn't lemme finish my unsaved 2nd match. I started over yesterday and here are the results so far.

The second ODI of the series was held in Kingston on a hot, humid day with the skies being covered by dark clouds. On this good batting pitch, West Indies decided to bat first after winning the toss. This might prove to be a gamble considering how the new ball might swing quite a bit in these weather conditions.

First inning - WI

West Indies had an extremely shaky start as they lost two of their most important wickets in the first two overs. First to go was Hinds, who got runout as Gayle tried to get a double on the third ball of the first over. Hinds never even got to face a ball.

Just in the next over, after being frustrated by Sami, Lara hit a shot towards on that flied off his bat and, unfortunately for the batsman, ended up in Inzi's hands. West Indies were now 5/2.

But these two terrible blows didn't slow Gayle down. He frustrated both Akhter and Sami with his brilliant batting, but played a careless shot in the air that Imran Nazir caught at mid-on by diving forward.

The WI kept playing aggressively, but this way of batting cost them dearly throughout their inning. But after losing a couple of wickets to Amir and Kaneria, the batsmen finally slowed down quite a bit and started playing more defensively. Sarwan stayed on the crease long enough so he could frustrate both the bowlers, before he edged one off of Amir in an attempt to play a square cut. A movie of this is attached with this post.

After losing Sarwan's wicket, WI batsmen, Powell and Jacobs, played even more cautiously scoring whenever they could. But the Pakistani bowlers were able to get through them. Jacobs got lbw to a decieving googly by Kaneria, followed by Powell who gave up a catch off of Kaneria.

Hurley and Drakes were next, and they dragged the inning even longer. But the tailenders couldn't hold on to their wickets for much longer and the whole team was all out for a measly 115 runs.

Here are the stats from the inning. No batsman was able to make a decent contribution. This seems like Pakistan's revenge for the ICC Championship semi-final last year. :p

Pakistan's reply tomorrow.

Well you would have expected WI to build on that win in the 1st ODI. But thats a poor performance.
Overconfidence maybe?

The Pakistanis started the inning off at a steady rate of 4 an over. Both openers did their best and kept the ball on the ground avoiding losing any wickets. But about 8 overs into the inning, Younis Khan played a square cut and ran to get a run, but the more observant Nazir realized that the ball went straight down to third-man and didn't move, forcing Khan to go back. Unfortunately, Khan couldn't get back in time to avoid a runout.

Next man in was Malik, who scored a double on the very first delivery. From then on Nazir and Malik put up a fast-paced 28 run partnership. It ended with Nazir trying to play a quick leg glance off of Colleymore that flew off his bat allowing Powell to take a diving catch. 22 runs later, Malik went out in a similar fashion giving Hurley his first wicket. Pakistan were now 81/3.

After that loss, Inzi and Yousuf Youhana played cautiously and reached the target of 116 with 22.5 overs and 7 wickets to spare.
