Day 3

Wow. Thats really like a test match. I am sure you must be having fun playing this, aint you nightprowler? Tutsi's patch now gives almost real test matches!
I most certainly am having fun, but the consistent byes keep bothering me.

Just four minutes into day 3, Malik was finally able to complete his 50 in 125 balls.

But just a few overs later, after getting tired of letting go of all the bouncers, Yousuf Youhana tried to hook on one of Drakes boucers, but ended up getting caught by Taylor. Here's the video:

Up next was Amir, the not so cautious slogger. But understanding the need to preserve wickets, Amir and Malik played slowly only having a go at the bad balls. But Amir couldn't resist and started hitting the WI bowlers for boundaries, and so far he was able to keep them on the ground. The Amir-Malik partnership went past 50 and was closing in on 100 when Amir scored a double to complete his first half-century of the tournament on the last ball before lunch.

Here are the statistics from the inning so far. Both batsmen are past 50 now, which means they are both very confident. This partnership could spell trouble for WI:

Notice the huge amount extras? Its all byes, that's a bug Tutsi should work out in the next beta version. I included the partnership chart because of the pyramid pattern. Interesting. The rest of the inning might not start till tomorrow. I sure hope I'm not the only one enjoying this match.

I was thinking about declaring after a 100 run lead to avoid a draw, any suggestions?

What the FUuuuuuu... lol... why aren't my matches so interesting??? Good game. Guess I need to play a little worse.
Are you using the power and advance buttons at all while batting?
When I played the first test match in this series, it was way too one-sided, I bowled WI out for 169 and 79. I won the match by an inning and 145 runs. But that wasn't very realistic so not too many people were interested in seeing Pakistan thrash everybody everytime. So i downloaded a harder patch and now I am having a good time playing myself because its a bit more realistic. And yes I hold back on a lot of bad deliveries just to make it a bit more interesting and avoid all the risky shots, just like in real life test match.

I think this will give you a very good chance of winning. You have wickets in hand, so can probably up the run rate when you have a lead of, say 40 or so.

Since this is a program (Cricket2004 is programmed), so you might look to be playing worse with a program. A program would only work the way it is being programmed. It does not think to outdo you in anyway. And to make it look like test matches, we do not go aggressive. the problem with C2004 is the advance shot. It is programmed too easy for human players. So, avoid that shot at all costs and play only with the normal shots. Even if u lose, its fine. you can improve on the timing of ur normal strokes.

Ok but can I still use the power button?? lol

Yes. power button is allowed. You will find it harder to time the normal shot with power button. Advance shot with power button is what makes it very easy!

Pakistan Declare at 356/5

After lunch, the WI bowlers got a bit agressive, and wouldn't let either one of the batsmen to score many runs at a time. But eventually both Amir and Malik started finding gaps in the field, and both eventually reached their respective centuries.

This amazing partnership had now reached 203, when Amir lofted one off of Drakes into the hands of Gayle on the last ball of the 90th over.

After Amir's dismissal, Pakistan already had a 104 run lead over the WI, so Inzamam-ul-Haq decided to declare at 356/5.

West Indies won't resume play until tomorrow. At this point they can only hope for a draw, unless they either post a huge total or get Pakistan out quickly.

That was a good total from pakistan. I hope the CPU scores good against you but I also hope Pakistan wins (MY DEAR NEIGHBOR!)

Second inning - WI

West Indies got off to a terrible start as they lost their opener Gayle in the very first over for a duck.

Things didn't get much better for WI as they lost three more wickets to Amir when he came in to bowl. First to go was Sarwan who edged one back to the keeper, Lara followed not too much later. Ganga lofted one off of Amir towards cover that was easily caught by a joyous Inzi.

At the end of day 3, WI were 33/4, with Samuels being the highest scorer at 16 runs. Here are the stats for the day:

Going to go resume play now, hoping for a better performance from the host team. Probably wont be able to post results right away though.

WI innings con't:

After losing their top order at such a low score, WI were desperate for a stable partnership, but were unable to get one.

Just a few minutes into the fourth day, Samuels lost his wicket to Afridi in an attempted sweepshot. Afridi got his second wicket after a bit more successful 27 run partnership when Jacobs lofted one into the air and was caught by Kaneria.

In the very next over, Drakes hit Sami 6 runs before giving up his wicket as well. In the next few overs, Banks kept scoring runs at a steady pace while Colleymore kept defending all the attacks. After a 25 run partnership, Banks edged one back to the second slip giving Akhter his second wicket of the inning.

West Indies were 92/8.

Just as it was looking like Pakistani team wouldn't have to come back for a second inning, Taylor and Colleymore stuck at the crease to put up another 28 runs on the board before Taylor gave Amir his fourth wicket by mis-timing a shot towards on and getting caught by Yousuf Youhana. Just a couple of overs later, Edwards tried to hit a four off of Kaneria but was caught by Akhter at mid-on.

West Indies all out for 123 runs giving Pakistan only 20 runs of target to win the match.
