Those 20 runs didn't come by easy for Pakistan, as they lost their openers in the process. First to go was Nazir due to an lbw call from a great delivery by Edwards. Next, Younis Khan lofted one towards mid-on and was caught by Gayle. Inzi and Malik completed the target in 6 overs ending the match around 3 in the afternoon on the fourth day.
Amir was declared Man-of-the-Match for his 113 runs and 4 crucial wickets in the match. Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhter was given Man-of-the-Series award for his 14 wickets.
Pakistan win the test series 2-0. Now on to the ODIs!!!
Thanks, didn't expect the ball to have that wierd bounce by the fourth day. I'm keeping track of all the (Pakistani) stats from this tour, and this match didn't do much good for the openers' averages, they might be dropped for the tests against England in October. I'll have to see how they fare against WI in ODIs.
Finally was able to start the first ODI of this Pakistani tour. I am using Boss's coolgameplay patch for this match. On this good scoring pitch, WI chose to bowl first.
Here is a look at the line-ups for both teams. Dillon, after being excluded from the second test, will bowl in this one. Hopefully, unlike the tests, Lara will let his spinners take some of the load.
Pakistan had a decent start to the inning, with both openers playing cautiously while keeping up with a steady 4.5 runrate, raising it to 5 by the 10th over. Pakistan were looking in good shape until Colleymore was finally able to get a delivery through Younis Khan giving Pakistan their first blow, it was to be followed by many more.
By the time Pakistan reached their 100 in 23 overs, they had already lost two more wickets, those of Malik and Inzi. Both were lost to some great spinning by Sarwan. Unfortunately for Pakistan, he wasn't done yet.
Imran Nazir, who had averaged just 9.5 runs in the test series, finally reached his 50. But gave his wicket away a few balls later in an attempt to hit a four off of Sarwan by advancing down the pitch.
More trouble followed for Pakistan. None of the Pakistani batsmen were able to stand their ground against some great spinning by Sarwan and Samuels. Most batsmen got out before reaching a double-digit score, with the exception of Amir who scored 19. The whole Pakistani line-up was bowled out at a low score of 183. Sarwan ended with a 5-wicket haul. Here are some screen shots of Pakistani wickets.
