Pakistan win the series 2-1

Muhammad Amir was presented with the Man-of-the-Match award for his 4 for 12 in just 2 overs while Mohammed Sami was declared Man-of-the-Series for his 8/75 in the ODI series with an average of 9.4

Here are the stats for the inning:

Next, Pakistan will travel back home and be with their familes until November (which is tomorrow) when they play a home series against England. Some changes in the line-up can be expected.

England in Pakistan!!

Since the schedule of the "England in Pakistan" tour is yet to be determined, I will follow the ODI and Test schedules that were used the last time England visited Pakistan in late 2000. Here is the schedule:

ODI
1st ODI At National Stadium Karachi
2nd ODI At Gaddafi Stadium Lahore
3rd ODI (D/N) At Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi

Test
1st Test Match At Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
2nd Test Match At Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad
3rd Test Match At National Stadium, Karachi

Stay tuned for more news about this tour.

I will be using these Line-ups for tests and ODIs against England to start with.

ODI
Imran Nazir
Younis Khan
Shoaib Malik
Muhammad Amir
Inzamam-ul-Haq (Captain)
Yousuf Youhana
Kamran Akmal (wk)
Shahid Afridi
Mohammed Sami
Shoaib Akhter
Danish Kaneria

Test
Salman Butt
Yasir Hameed
Shoaib Malik
Inzamam-ul-Haq (Captain)
Yousuf Youhana
Muhammad Amir
Kamran Akmal (wk)
Saqlain Mushtaq
Shoaib Akhter
Mohammed Sami
Danish Kaneria

The ODI line-up didn't see many changes with the exception of Moin Khan being replaced by Kamran Akmal as a keeper for good. Besides that, Amir was moved to two down instead of four down. On the other hand, the test line-up saw some major changes. Both Nazir and Khan were dropped for Salman Butt and Yasir Hameed, and Afridi, who is much more productive in ODIs, is being replaced by Saqlain Mushtaq, who has finally recovered from his knee surgery.

Saqlain Mushtaq was very destructive in the last home series against England.

good to see saqlain back,he has been out for long time.

In the first four tests against SA, I had the following the lineup:

Marcus Trescothick
Andrew Strauss
Mark Butcher
Michael Vaughan
Graham Thorpe
Andrew Flintoff
Geraint Jones
Ashley Giles
Matthew Hoggard
Steve Harmison
James Anderson

In the fifth and final test, I made three changes.

Collingwood for Flintoff (injury)
Bell for Thorpe (tactical)
Jones for Anderson (tactical)

will this do? or do u want me to post the lineup editor team lineup file?

Thank you very much. I will update these in my line-up editor, there's no need for you to go through all that trouble. BTW in your ODI line-up, who would you have omitted had Flintoff been playing.

Again, many thanks.

Well thats a tough one. I think I would have to leave out Paul Collingwood, because Kevin Pieterson's form recently has been too good to be ignored.

England in Pakistan!!!

Using m_vaughan's England line-up, I have already started the first ODI in National Stadium, Karachi.

It is very humid in Karachi today, the ball could swing a little early on. But its a very dry pitch, so the chances of the new ball swinging too much are very dim. This is a good batting pitch, so scores will come easily for both teams.

Shoaib Akhter, who injured himself during practice, won't be available for the first two ODIs. Replacing Akhter will be newcomer Naved-ul-Hasan.

Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat.

Pakistan in control at Drinks.

Pakistan started the inning out very confidently, scoring six runs off the very first over. Imran Nazir was looking to be in great form, hitting 2 boundaries in the first two overs. But unfortunately for him, he didn't last long at the crease. In just the third over, he edged one off of Gough in an attempt to play a late cut straight back to the keeper.

The arrival of Malik marked the beginning of a wonderful partnership between himself and Younis Khan. Pakistan got past their first 50 runs in just 9 overs, thanks primarily to Shoaib Malik, whose fearless strokes kept Pakistan's run rate above 5.0.

After both Harmison and Gough failed to get through this partnership, Flintoff was finally introduced. His first delivery almost created results as Malik edged one trying to play a square cut. But Flintoff watched in disapointment as the ball zoomed past the keeper and speedily went past the boundary.

By drinks break, Pakistan were 78/1. Here are the stats in the inning so far:

Will Shoaib Malik continue his good form and pile up a bigger score? Or will Flintoff get through Malik before he does any more damage? Find out in the next update.

35 over update...

Right after drinks break, the one batsman that made the scorers work for their money was not Malik, but Younis Khan. He started the 15th over with a boundary, and played brilliantly after that. In the next few overs both Malik and Khan were able to complete their half-centuries.

England was finally able to succeed against this partnership when Younis Khan was caught out by Vaughan off of Giles' delivery.

After Khan's wicket, England had a couple of bad overs with Malik keeping up with his great form and Amir, the new batsman in, helping pile up runs. By the time 35 overs had gone by, Pakistan were very much in command with the score of 182/2, with Malik batting at 91* and Amir at 18*.

I will play the rest of the match tomorrow. Hopefully Malik won't choke just before getting his century.

It is my sad duty to announce that the first ODI between Pakistan and England has been abandoned. Once again, the game froze, probably due to excessive saving of the file. No matter how many times I hit resume, do tweaking with savtweak, or try anything else I can think of, the game won't go past the 39th over. After the 39th over, you can view all the stats, etc. but I'm not able to play the game at all.

This happened to me in the World Championship thread as well. But unlike that match, I don't have to abandon this one, I can just start over, which is what I will be doing. This is really frustrating especially since Malik was at 99*, but this certainly isn't the first time this has happened to me. This only happens during an ODI, but in tests, no matter how many times I save the game, it never freezes like this.

Anyhoo, I'm off to restart the match in Karachi, under the same conditions and pitch type with the same line-ups. Shoaib Akhter is still injured, so Naved-ul-Hasan will be taking his place. On the English side, Pieterson was selected instead of Collingwood as per vaughanie's suggestion. I will post updates as before.

P.S: Thank you for all the positive rep points, you know who you are. :)

Pak vs. England - 1st ODI (again)

Like I said in my last post, I had restart the match, but under the same weather conditions. And under these batter friendly conditions and pitch, England has decided to bat first.

Since Akhter is injured, he won't be able to play for the first two ODIs against England, but will be fit for the third ODI and the test series. Mohammed Sami and Muhammad Amir, the best two bowlers from the West Indies tour, will be leading the Pakistani bowling attack.

Here's a look at the pitch and the line-ups.

England batting well at Drinks break...

England has had a pretty decent start to the inning, smashing both bowlers, primarily Amir, all over the National Stadium. Its been pretty quiet in the stands so far today, for the Pakistani bowlers have yet to take an English wicket. Trescothick has been playing very sensibly going after only the least threatening deliveries, while Solanki has started to catch up. Since the fast bowlers aren't producing many results, Afridi was brought in to bowl, but got hit 9 runs in just two overs. At drinks, England are 62 without a loss.

Here are the stats from the inning so far.
