Tail-enders trouble Pakistan

After taking the new ball just a few overs into the third day, Pakistan's efforts in day 2 seemed to be endangered by the beautiful strokeplay of the English wicket-keeper Geriant Jones. Playing some careful cricket, he was able to take England's score past 290 with Giles defending every delivery on the other end. After taking his own score past 40, he was finally out when Youhana at mid-off took yet another diving catch, this time to dismiss Jones.

With Jones gone and England down by 7 wickets, it seemed unlikely that England would take their score past 351. But between the English pacing trio of Hoggard, Harmison, and Anderson, enough runs were scored to take England's score one run ahead of Pakistan's. On the other end, Giles was still just defending his stumps, and by the time England's inning had come to a close, the spinner had defended 96 deliveries and scored just one run. While Ashley Giles remained not out, the rest of his team was all out at the score of 352 runs.

Great job.

Pakistan make a slow, steady start

Pakistan started their second inning very slowly, scoring at a run rate of 2.5. Matters seemed to be getting worse for Pakistan as Imran Nazir edged out to a delivery by Hoggard. But a 76 run partnership between Salman Butt and Younis Khan ensured a good start by Pakistan. Just before the team's score reached 100, Butt played a bad shot towards fine leg where he was caught easily by Harmison.

Inzamam's arrival spelled more doom for England as he seemed to be in top form and started scoring aggressively immediately after stepping up to the crease. By the end of day three, Younis Khan had taken his score to 88 and was looking in good enough form to reach his first century of the series. Pakistan were 169/2 at stumps on day 3.

What the...?? This thread is still getting hits? Well, maybe I can revive this thread to atleast finish off England's tour, I am getting mighty bored with C2K4 now that I own BLIC. Expect something in a week or so. Thank you for your support fellas.

Pakistan lose important wickets before lunch

Both Inzamam and Younis scored aggressively in the morning session of the fourth day. Inzamam slowed down to get his half-century but Younis Khan didn't make it to 100. He was 3 runs short when he was trapped before the stumps by a great delivery from Collingwood. Inzamam and Yousuf Youhana now troubled all English bowlers, with Inzi closing in on his century. But a great diving catch from Trescothick ended this wonderful partnership, which was followed by a destructive over by Giles in which he got rid of Amir and Afridi on back to back deliveries. At lunch Pakistan were 284/6.
