Planetcricket IC10 Q&A thread discussion

They did say there would be no stat tracking online but I hope they at least will count the numbers of wins and losses. That is a bare minimum requirement for a sports game, Im amazed it was left out in AC09

It jsut seems like they're holding back on some features just so that the next game can have some awesome feature that could easily be in this game.

No stats tracking as expected

Yes, sami. Stats tracking was pretty much the only thing I wanted. :(

That Q&A would have made a politician blush at the way the answers to those questions were dodged and manipulated
As I said beforehand, the answers would need to be 'air-brushed', and were delivered as expected.

To be fair, that's what the Q&As have always been like, and always will be.

That's true. And by "fair", I understand that you are using it to compare this press release with other press releases from this company and others. Unfortunately, it's not all that fair to the customers. Oh well - enough comparing apples with oranges.

Just found it and all my suspicions are confirmed.

We are getting patched AC09 and nothing more.

Bunch of wanekrs

You were the first to predict this. Eventually, I'd say most of us saw it coming.

I will buy it sachin_rocks because I am a cricket addict.

Its just a bit disappointing but as cricket fans I am sure we are all used to it.

How stupid do they think we are? "sportsmanship star rating" is not new, its basically the system they had implemented in the betas for quitters.

No stats tracking again! in a cricket game! I have not seen incompetence at this level since George W was president.

Thanks for nothing Coderehashers and Tricksters

I used to think it was incompetence or perhaps even laziness, but now I realise that there's a business plan here. My reply to Covvy below addresses that.

No one asked for it, its a gimmick they include so all the regular gamers get lured in. Its the same as putting a pretty girl in a commercial for toothpaste. ITs meaningless and its only purpose is to get the retards to buy your product under false pretenses.

EDIT: false pretenses in the toothpaste case being that using that product will lead to success with women and false pretenses here being that action cam provides a better cricket experience than stats tracking / other fundamental cricket aspects they ignored

Action cam is not interesting for us. Within the game, it might be kinda cool, but it doesn't add depth to the game. I understand how you feel about "entertaining the ****** community". That's what action cam gimmicks are for. Mark, it insults our intelligence.

Well from what I have heard on PC, AC09 patched was a decent cricket game. At least we will be buying a playable game with a slightly improved online game play and updated rosters. I honestly do not mind paying $60 for that. Just trying to find the silver lining here.

I've been searching too, but my silver lining will have to be getting the PS3 version so I can play it online with you, Dutch, and other non-children from Planetcricket who will play the game fairly. We'll get something out of it. There are also some expanded tournaments if you need an offline fix. But geez, if the game is patched AC09, there's little more you can get out of the offline mode than that. :(

I don't know if they can still do this but really, how much work will it take to just add one more column of Stat online that calculates this :

Number of games disconnected in / Total games played * 100

This won't take any effort and will curb all disconnect problems.

That's too much work.

It jsut seems like they're holding back on some features just so that the next game can have some awesome feature that could easily be in this game.

This is the best and most inspiring post I've ever seen you write here. You've nailed it.

We have to think about this more from the business perspective. The Codemasters games are making profits. They've now eliminated the PC version, which was losing money due to piracy, and will now capitalise on a console-only release to further shore up profits. You know what the next step is? Yes, well done Covvy. They will now stagger the inclusion of vital features across several years. This secures profits year by year.

By including the full package this year, they would need to come up with new things next year. Instead, they deliberately omit stats tracking (which has been an essential part of cricket for around 200 years or so) and throw in an action cam gimmick for the kiddies. The trick then is to say in the Q&A "stats tracking is something that will be considered in future versions of the game". Nicely done, Codemasters :clap :clap :clap :sarcasm

Accuse me of conspiracy theories all you want, but this makes good business sense to me. It insults me and the hMarka's of the world, but we're just pawns to them.

I know THQ/Yukes do this with their yearly WWE games. One year they add a new tournament mode like their "Build-A-PPV" mode and suddenly the the 6 man tornado tag team TLC match mode is gone which was there in the last game =\ then they tout it "Back next year" and minus the PPV feature lol, its just insurance people buy the game next year, WWE gamers are used to it by now and don't even bring it up.

Though stats tracking should be an essential. Its a sports game + its a cricket game, its all stats. No excuse to leave it out, we've been complaining so much but its going to be a big feautre in IC2011. Should have been more of a priority than bonus tourny modes. There would be more incentives to build tournaments etc if it were actually backed by deep stats tracking.

Jeez CaptainOZ, we can all read, you know. No need to make your text 2 times bigger to make your point ;).

the biggest problem with Ashes 2009 was that ball physics sucked and till you cant fix that all games involing a ball would suck

Yes i agree with all of you that they are just milking it on the basis of last ac09. codes didnt make too much profit with the last game and they were going to make it up in this game. Beileve me its true.

I know thats its not fair to us, but i am happy that we are atleast getting a cricket game. I mean what other hope do we have. there is no other cricket game guys. We are stuck with this one either we like it or not. I will buy it because i love cricket games and we are getting new game every year now. Can codies justify it? well they dont have to as there is no competition.

The lack of competition really sucks for the consumers. Hope Codies enjoy their monopoly while it lasts because ANY effort by EA would immediately see their market share halved, if not more.

Its just a shame Americans don't know much about cricket. Its going to be at least a decade before any cricket game can compete with MLB 09 the Show and who knows what baseball games will look like by then.

I don't understand what happened with EA cricket. It's a shame they ditched it, because even if the game sucked, it was a rival company.

And I don't buy comments like "it's just a game" and "at least we're getting a cricket game, be grateful for what you get". They're lame arguments, and they completely miss the point.

Lag issues

They haven't mentioned anything about improving the lag issues in the Q&A. It was asked in Q3.

Peter Moore (****head at EA sports) said there's no market for cricket games. Well if you're going to make crappy ass games then obviously there will be no market. Ashes 2009 came out as the best game since BLC 99 and was Coddies topseller of the summer of last year.

To be fair, I sincerely think now even if EA tried their best they couldn't top Coddies cricket gameplay. They'll probably release something to milk WC craze next year. No wonder Coddies saving some features for next year lol.

I think I just found my silver lining. AC09 for all its faults has the foundation for what could possibly be a very realistic cricket game. IC10 will add the much needed beta patches and then IC11 will include the stats tracking and other fixes needed for IC10.

Basically if Codemasters stick with the franchise (as they had promised upon AC09 release) we could be inline for a fantastic cricket game in a few years.

Silver lining or wishful thinking?

I'm liking the optimism. I think this is the way to go.

It seems weird to me to hold features back that you could easily achieve... This series set out to be 'the Pro Evo of cricket games'. I don't remember them holding back features in that series. I guess it's a feature of lack of competition and small budget... bad times for cricket game fans. I'd understand if they were holding back something huge and difficult to implement, but they're not.

My questions

1)Will Codemasters bother to change the AI?

2)When will Codemasters quit making cricket games?

Even if ai may be poor they are constantly improving and above all they are making cricket games every year not like ea who have abandoned crikcet games so i think all people just cry give us a cricket game and when it is realesed ytou crib anyway codemaster is the only company making cricket games
