Politics Discussion (India)

Today is the day India is observing "National Unemployment Day" on auspicious occasion of PM Modi's Birthday. :lol:lol

BJP on course to win Bihar. More validation to them that they are on the right path....

Really not understanding why PM is quite on Farmer Protest & Suicides. His one time intervention in this issue can resolve most of the problems at once.

Also heard that British Parliament has now written a letter to Indian Govt. to resolve the farmer's issue ASAP. Will not be surprised if Kamala Harris arrives with her socialist agendas once swearing in ceremony is over on Jan 20. Hope, this is resolved before that happens.

One thing I can say with 100% certainty is that there would absolutely be NO repel of the law. Perhaps amedment, but not removal. If there's anything this government has established in the last 6 years it's that they don't back out once something is put in motion. I guess it's because they think that would set a precedence and/or make them look weak.

Which is why I know CAA/NRC will happen too. Just a matter of time.

If I'm not wrong, CAA/NRC was never withdrawn or put on hold. There were huge protests across the country against it but due to pandemic govt declared lockdown which halted the protests. Now people seem to have forgotten & moved on.

Also supreme court today has asked centre to 'hold' the implementation of farm laws. If not, they will do it themselves. As you pointed out, they won't backout but delay the implementation, that's it.

RIL which said that they would not enter into business of agriculture goods due to backlash from public, is now eyeing to purchase 1000 tons of agriculture goods. Lol

Not understanding? This is what he is known for. He is only there to announce schemes and be present for photo ops at inaugurations. Saying anything on this topic will be questioned by either of the sides and BJP cannot afford that. He is a star batsmen and needs a night watchman for shielding him during tricky phases of play :P

Which is so sad, right? Image is more important than what people actually want.

This whole process stinks from the beginning. First of all they passed the bill in ridiculous circumstances - without discussing with REAL stakeholders and going against the democratic process. They knew it would be opposed even by their allies, so make it happen it by hook or by crook.

This is a joke. The news has been splashed that RIL is paying Rs. 82 more than the MSP. And then the fine print carries the important info:
- crop quality threshold
- crop quality will be tested by 'third party' firm
- Farmers will be responsible for packaging and transport (this will offset the Rs. 82 bonus)
- and a confusing point about 1.5% cess to be paid by farmers it seems (again will offset the rs. 82 credit)

Its all being done to show that the deal is good for farmers. But it is actually reeking of the issues that these bills will bring in

Let's face the reality. Opposition are no where near to making it a majority. Only thing that is holding up the govt is the pro-hindu agendas which has done wonders in the past 6 years. I have no issues whatsoever with their agendas. But only thing that is worrisome is that due to their agenda, other people are literally suffering. Nothing matters to these people. Hindus, Hindutva, Hindu nation is all they want.

Their MLAs, MPs openly call for violence and no action is taken on them (Mishra from Delhi). Arnab shouts rubbish against other political party leaders and he is a nationalist. If someone oppose something of govt, you are termed Anti national and urban naxals. I'm just hoping any international media or political leaders stand up to these things. Because opposition here are facing existential crisis.

The thing that concerns me is people are voting for them, not voting for them because they think they are the best choice for the development of the nation but voting for them as what's spoken by these "leaders".
It makes me question whether the seed of hatred which we think is getting sowed has already been sowed and is in reality a full grown tree?
Is it too late?

But isn't BJP's current winning streaks/making great inroads in the local + state elections (such Hyderabad, Bihar, a couple more the names of which I cannot recall at the moment, and I'm pretty sure WB too - I'm putting my money on Didi being dethroned) an indication that the wants of the voter and them are aligned? Why else would they be on the rise everywhere?

Most popular strategy followed by BJP where they want to enter the state politics is, either make few people (their party workers) die and claim that ruling party is doing so Ex: WB, Kerala, now in Andhra Pradesh or inject violence wherever possible to dethrone the govt in the name of failed governance Ex: Delhi, North East States.

Questions to be asked : Why don't they fight elections on the basis of their achievements? Why do they always want to point fingers at opposition even if they are the ruling party (lol)? And why is that there is rise in communal violance everywhere which wasn't the case in the past? Why don't the PM speak to media and public? Why is Amit Shah still interfering in the administrative/organisational decisions of BJP even when there is a National President - JP Nadda? Isn't it contradicting the fact that they accused Sonia Gandhi on bossing over Dr. MMS? They even made a movie out of it. Lol

Absolutely. Cant argue here - BJP has a wave going at all levels and they have worked hard for it. But just because you win the election, doesn't mean you can do whatever you want post that. The laws have to be made based on what the people want.

The Farm Laws were passed under highly questionable circumstances - there was no majority in the house that day and the Speaker called out for a voice vote, which was totally against the laws laid out in the Constitution. It was an insult to our democracy. The laws were made without consulting farmer unions before hand, without allowing any discussion with the opposition and now they cancelled the Winter session due to Covid so no one can question it (even though holding rallies with lakhs of people has no COVID thread :) )

I don't have a problem with BJP winning - there is no opposition. They will win. I do have a problem with them thinking that only they know what is good for the country without even trying to feel the pulse of the general public. And our PM will comment on worldwide issues in the US etc but wont spare a few words for this issue.

I didn't know water canons & tear gas are being used on farmers who are protesting on the borders of Delhi and within.

Issue has reached British Parliament. Such a shame and embarrassment for us. :facepalm.
